Sheikh Mohammed Attends 29th Dubai World Cup at Meydan, Celebrating a Night of Global Racing Prestige
Dubai once again took center stage in the international horse racing scene as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the 29th edition of the Dubai World Cup at the Meydan Racecourse on Saturday night.
The event brought together top-tier talent from across the globe, with 102 elite horses representing 13 different countries. Spectators from around the world tuned in for the highly anticipated event, with the total prize pool soaring to an impressive $30.5 million spread across nine exhilarating races.
Sheikh Mohammed was joined by several high-ranking dignitaries, including His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Their presence highlighted not only the cultural significance of the Dubai World Cup but also the UAE’s continued leadership in the global equestrian arena.
Throughout the evening, world-renowned jockeys and trainers competed fiercely, but it was the breathtaking atmosphere and elite competition that stole the show. In one of the event’s standout moments, Raging Torrent, an American-trained horse under Doug O’Neill, claimed victory in the 1600-metre Godolphin Mile. Ridden by legendary jockey Frankie Dettori, the horse clocked in at 1:26:70, adding a memorable highlight to an already electric night.
The Dubai World Cup has long been more than just a sporting event—it’s a celebration of tradition, excellence, and the UAE’s deep-rooted passion for horse racing. Each year, the event continues to grow in prestige, reinforcing Dubai’s place as a global hub for the sport.
As the city looks ahead to its 30th edition, the Dubai World Cup remains a shining example of vision, preparation, and the enduring spirit of competition.
