In a landmark event held in Abu Dhabi and attended by the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a powerful alliance of international technology leaders announced the launch of the ‘Stargate Emirates’ project—an ambitious AI infrastructure initiative that marks a new era in global artificial intelligence development.

This historic collaboration includes some of the world’s foremost tech entities: G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, Cisco, and SoftBank, and will establish one of the most advanced AI computing clusters ever conceived. The facility will be housed within the newly announced UAE-U.S. Artificial Intelligence Complex, a sprawling 10-square-mile development that is expected to become a global hub for AI innovation.

Supercomputing at Scale: A Vision for 1 Gigawatt AI Infrastructure

At the heart of the Stargate Emirates project lies a state-of-the-art supercomputing ecosystem capable of scaling up to 1 gigawatt of AI-focused computational power. The first phase of the project will see the launch of a 200-megawatt AI compute cluster in 2026, setting the foundation for an AI-powered future not only in the UAE but across the globe.

The initiative aims to offer next-generation computational resources that dramatically reduce data processing time, enabling breakthroughs in AI applications across sectors such as healthcare, energy, finance, and transportation.

Global Partners with a Shared Mission

  • G42 will lead the construction of the facility, anchoring the project with its regional expertise.

  • OpenAI and Oracle will jointly manage its operations, combining AI research leadership with cloud infrastructure capabilities.

  • Cisco is tasked with integrating zero-trust cybersecurity systems and AI-enhanced networking.

  • NVIDIA will provide its latest cutting-edge AI systems, including the powerful Grace Blackwell GB300 processors.

  • SoftBank brings strategic investments and global vision to elevate the initiative.

A Symbol of International Cooperation

This project also signifies a deeper strategic alignment between the UAE and the United States. The AI complex will be powered through a sustainable mix of nuclear, solar, and natural gas energy, reflecting a shared commitment to green technology. It is part of the U.S.-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership, an initiative aimed at developing responsible and secure artificial intelligence that delivers broad human benefits.

During the inauguration, U.S. President Donald Trump joined His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to underscore the importance of this bilateral commitment.

What Leaders Are Saying

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, highlighted the significance:

“Turning bold vision into reality, Stargate Emirates is the first step in our global mission to empower allied nations with safe, cutting-edge AI.”

Larry Ellison, CTO of Oracle, noted:

“This platform redefines digital sovereignty and ensures the UAE’s data can connect to the world’s most advanced AI models seamlessly and securely.”

Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, added:

“AI is the engine of transformation in our time. With Stargate, we are building the digital heart of the UAE’s bold future.”

Masayoshi Son, Chairman of SoftBank, called the project a “global leap forward”:

“Stargate proves that bold investments and trusted partnerships can build a more connected, empowered, and joyful world.”

Chuck Robbins, CEO of Cisco, emphasized global impact:
