
A groundbreaking fitness event took place at Ski Dubai with the launch of the region’s very first Snow Duathlon. Co-organized by the Dubai Sports Council and Crank Fitness, the event attracted a diverse field of 209 participants from 49 countries, including 35 athletes representing the UAE.
Combining running and stationary cycling in freezing conditions where the temperature dropped to minus 4°C, the duathlon tested competitors’ strength, endurance, and adaptability in an environment rarely seen in the Middle East.
Standout Individual Performances included:

Women’s Individual: UAE athlete Kulthoum Al Mazmi claimed gold, completing three kilometres of running and five kilometres on a stationary bike in 30 minutes and 43 seconds.

Men’s Individual: Syrian contender Imran Shakir won first place in the same distance category with a swift time of 22 minutes and 56 seconds.
Elite Athletes also shone in their divisions:

Elite Women: Czech athlete Michaela Radomska secured victory in a challenging format that featured five kilometres of cycling and five running laps, finishing in 36 minutes and 68 seconds.

Elite Men: Norway’s Halfard Borsheim topped the elite men’s division, completing the race in 27 minutes and 82 seconds.
In the team competition, Commando Group dominated the leaderboard with an impressive average completion time of 19 minutes and 63 seconds, showcasing teamwork and resilience under intense conditions.
Looking ahead, Ski Dubai is preparing to host the 16th edition of the Ice Warrior Obstacle Challenge this September. This annual endurance event has become a signature highlight on Dubai’s winter sports calendar, drawing athletes eager to test their limits against icy challenges.
