The Mohammed bin Rashid Library has quickly established itself as a cornerstone of Dubai’s cultural and intellectual life, nurturing a love for reading and inspiring creativity among young people. Since its inauguration, the library has focused on creating an engaging environment for children and youth, becoming a vibrant platform that blends education with entertainment, and equipping the next generation with the skills needed for a rapidly evolving world.
Marking International Youth Day on August 12, the library’s dedicated Youth Library shines as a unique space designed for readers between the ages of 12 and 18. It caters to their evolving interests, fuels their curiosity, and bridges the gap between today’s opportunities and tomorrow’s ambitions. Here, visitors find not just books, but an immersive cultural and technological experience that shapes informed, innovative, and creative minds.
The Youth Library boasts a collection of more than 18,000 books spanning novels, adventures, science fiction, social sciences, arts, technology, comics, manga, and subjects like physics, chemistry, astronomy, and world literature. Available in multiple languages — including Arabic, English, French, Japanese, Korean, and Tamil — the collection reflects Dubai’s multicultural spirit while ensuring accessibility for all young readers.
Popular titles include the ever-beloved Harry Potter series, Roald Dahl classics like The BFG and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Japanese manga series, and literary treasures such as Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, The Da Vinci Code – Young Readers Edition, Moby Dick, The Three Musketeers, and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Youth visitors also enjoy culturally rich works like Legends and Folk Tales for Young Readers by Gwyn Jones, Nobel Prize Winners, Ahmed Khaled Tawfik’s Ma Wara’ Al-Tabi’a mystery series, and books on science and engineering such as Cars by Mohamed Gamal Qubaa.
Beyond books, the Youth Library organizes workshops, author meet-and-greets, critical reading sessions, and interactive debates that enhance critical thinking and communication skills. Creative, scientific, and artistic activities encourage self-expression and innovation, giving young people a space to share ideas and explore new horizons.
The library’s environment is as forward-thinking as its content. Equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, modern computers, a 3D printer, and digital tools to support academic research, the space is designed to facilitate hands-on learning. It is also fully accessible for people of determination, with wheelchair-friendly areas and facilities that ensure every visitor enjoys a comfortable and enriching experience.
With its rich collection, innovative programs, and inclusive design, the Mohammed bin Rashid Library’s Youth Library is more than a reading space — it’s a launchpad for curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning, empowering the youth of today to become the thinkers, creators, and leaders of tomorrow.
