In a groundbreaking step, Dubai Police Academy has launched the first Master’s program in Cybersecurity among police academies, setting a new milestone in security education. The initiative reflects the Academy’s vision to stay ahead in an era increasingly defined by digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and the growing importance of protecting information systems.
The announcement was made during a press conference attended by senior officials of the Academy, who emphasized the program’s role in strengthening the capacity of government, security, and police institutions with highly skilled graduates ready to anticipate and address future challenges.
Building on a Legacy of Excellence
Since its establishment in 1987, Dubai Police Academy has graduated over 8,000 students across its undergraduate, evening, and postgraduate programs. With the addition of the Cybersecurity Master’s, the Academy now offers three bachelor’s, nine master’s, and five doctoral programs, along with specialized tracks in areas such as crime scene strategy, crisis management, border security, and combating emerging crimes.
The new program expands on this legacy by directly aligning with Dubai’s forward-looking strategies in digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
Program Features and Curriculum
What makes the Cybersecurity Master’s distinctive is its strong practical orientation. Beyond theoretical foundations, students will engage in real-world applications such as penetration testing, security incident management, policy implementation, and handling risks associated with data privacy, artificial intelligence, and information security.
The one-year program is taught entirely in English—another first for the Academy—and consists of 30 credit hours spread across three semesters and a summer term. Core topics include:
-
Cybercrime investigation and digital forensics
-
Network and cloud security management
-
Cyber risk assessment and crisis response
-
Policies and governance of AI in cybersecurity
-
Encryption, blockchain, and international cybersecurity frameworks
The curriculum is structured around four key pillars: policy and administration, digital forensic investigation, infrastructure protection, and scientific research & publication.
Admission and Opportunities
Enrollment is open to both UAE nationals and residents who hold a relevant bachelor’s degree with a minimum “Good” grade and demonstrate English proficiency. Applicants will also undergo a personal interview to ensure readiness for the program.
Unlike traditional two-year postgraduate programs, this master’s can be completed in just one year, making it a fast-track option for professionals seeking advanced expertise. Tuition for the program is set at AED 60,000, with an intake of 15–25 students expected in the first cohort.
Strengthening Cyber Resilience
The introduction of this specialized degree underscores Dubai Police’s commitment to preparing experts capable of addressing the increasing challenges of cyberspace. By combining academic rigor with hands-on training, the program positions graduates at the forefront of cyber defense—ensuring they can safeguard sensitive information, uphold privacy, and contribute to national and global security.
This step not only reinforces Dubai Police Academy’s role as a leader in security education but also establishes a new benchmark for police academies worldwide in preparing the next generation of cybersecurity leaders.
