In a forward-looking move, the UAE government has announced a strategic collaboration with Google that will allow university students across the country to access the paid version of Gemini, one of the most advanced generative AI tools, completely free for a full year.
This initiative is part of the UAE’s broader national effort to build a strong foundation in artificial intelligence by equipping students with the latest tools and technologies—helping them learn, grow, and innovate in a rapidly evolving digital world.
Empowering the Next Generation of Talent
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, emphasized that the UAE—under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum—continues to invest in people first.
He noted that providing students with access to cutting-edge AI tools is a key part of building national capabilities, enhancing efficiency, and driving innovation across all sectors.
The vision, he added, is clear: enable society through technology and artificial intelligence by forming strong, global partnerships that create an environment where learning and leadership can thrive.
Strong Demand for AI and Learning Tools
From Google’s side, Anthony Nakache, Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa, highlighted the growing interest in AI and education across the UAE. Over the past two months alone, there’s been a 110% increase in Google search activity related to artificial intelligence and studying—reflecting a strong appetite among students and educators to explore the latest tech.
He stressed that this partnership will give university students across the country direct access to the best that Gemini has to offer, supporting their creativity and academic goals with powerful, modern tools.
What Students Will Receive
With this initiative, university students in the UAE who are 18 or older can register to receive free access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, the most advanced version of the model currently available.

How to Sign Up
Students who are currently enrolled in universities across the UAE and are above the age of 18 can register before 9 December 2025 by entering their university details and personal email. Once signed up, they will receive one year of free access to the full suite of Gemini AI tools starting from their registration date.
