Dubai has officially launched a groundbreaking drone delivery service in the Al Nad Shabaa area, marking a major step toward smart and sustainable urban living. The initiative, launched by the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority in collaboration with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department and Keeta Drone, enables food orders to be delivered by drones from restaurants and cafés in Avenue Mall Al Nad Shabaa directly to a drop-off point located at the Al Nad Shabaa Grand Mosque.
The launch event was led by the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mohammed Abdullah Lanjawi, who personally dispatched the first drone delivery in the area. The ceremony was attended by senior officials and strategic partners, highlighting the significance of this technological milestone.
“This project showcases Dubai’s leadership in embracing innovation to enhance everyday life,” said Lanjawi. “With smart delivery corridors like this, we’re paving the way for a tech-driven, sustainable future for the city.”
Ahmed Darwish Al Mehairi, Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, emphasized the importance of involving community landmarks like mosques in the development of smart services. “Choosing the Al Nad Shabaa Grand Mosque as a delivery hub reflects a progressive vision, positioning places of worship as key pillars in supporting community sustainability and modern needs.”
Junwei Yang, General Manager of Keeta Drone, described the launch as the beginning of the company’s commercial operations in Dubai. He noted that the new drone route represents more than just technological advancement — it reflects the city’s forward-thinking approach to creating faster, smarter, and more sustainable urban environments.
This initiative is part of Dubai’s broader strategy to integrate advanced technologies into everyday services. Plans are already underway to expand drone delivery coverage across the city in the coming years, moving closer to the vision of a fully connected, tech-enabled urban lifestyle.
With this launch, Dubai continues to set the benchmark for smart city innovation — where the skies may soon become as busy as the roads below.
