The summer break for teaching and administrative staff in public schools and private schools that apply the UAE Ministry of Education curriculum will begin on July 18, 2026, and continue until August 23, 2026.
This gives school staff a summer holiday of around 5 weeks and 2 days, with their return to schools scheduled for August 24, 2026, in preparation for the launch of the new academic year 2026-2027.
Students, on the other hand, will benefit from a summer break of around 8 weeks and 2 days. Their holiday begins after the end of the current academic year on July 3, 2026, and they are set to return to classrooms with the start of the new school year on August 31, 2026.
This means students’ summer vacation will be nearly 3 weeks longer than the break granted to teaching and administrative staff.
According to the approved timeline for the third term of the 2025-2026 academic year, students will complete their school year on July 3, 2026, after taking the end-of-term exams scheduled from June 24 to July 3.
The timeline also includes several academic and administrative tasks before the summer break begins for school staff. Make-up exams for the third term will be held from July 6 to 9, 2026, followed by the analysis and release of end-of-year results on July 12 and 13.
The Ministry of Education has also set the period from July 13 to 17, 2026, for specialized training for teaching and administrative staff. The training aims to support professional development and raise the readiness of school teams ahead of the coming academic year.
At the same time, schools will hold resit exams for eligible students from July 14 to 17, 2026. The results of these exams will be analyzed and released on July 20, 2026.
The summer break for teaching and administrative staff will officially begin on July 18, 2026, after the completion of exam-related work, results, and training programs.
Staff members will return to schools on August 24, 2026, to complete organizational and academic preparations for the new school year.
The 2026-2027 academic year is scheduled to begin for students on August 31, 2026, one week after the return of teaching and administrative staff. This period will allow schools to finalize preparations, educational plans, and class schedules before welcoming students back.
