In celebration of International Flower Day, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is set to host a unique cultural and artistic event on January 19. The event highlights the timeless beauty and symbolism of flowers across poetry, art, and music – blending literary creativity with visual expression and community engagement. It honors flowers as a universal language that transcends cultures.

The program will feature a live painting exhibition titled “Petal Brush”, where a select group of Emirati and resident artists will create flower-inspired artworks in real-time. Flowers become a vivid, living subject, forming a shared visual language between artists and audience.

A cultural panel discussion will explore the symbolic meanings of flowers in global literature, their evolving representations through history, and their presence in diverse texts. The session will feature Dr. Samar Dioub and be moderated by Maria Tormosh.

The evening will also include a poetic gathering that celebrates the presence of flowers in verse, where poets Ahmed Al-Akhras, Ola Khaddaro, and Yasser Abdelkader will share selected readings. The session, moderated by media personality Wael Issa, will reflect on flowers as poetic symbols of love and life in Arabic literary tradition.

The event concludes with a musical performance titled “Oh, Beauty of the Rose”, celebrating the role of flowers in Arab musical heritage. The concert will feature artist Myrna Malouhi alongside a group of musicians, bringing the floral theme to life through song and melody.
