His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, reaffirmed the UAE Government’s commitment to strengthening effective and impactful international dialogue in the field of artificial intelligence, in line with the nation’s leadership vision to advance innovation and harness AI technologies to serve communities and drive sustainable development.

Speaking during a main session titled “Global Vision for Artificial Intelligence” at the AI Impact Summit held in New Delhi, His Excellency noted that the UAE’s co-chairmanship of the upcoming summit alongside the Swiss Confederation, as well as hosting the following edition, represents an important opportunity to enhance international cooperation and sustain constructive dialogue. He emphasized that such collaboration is essential to aligning global priorities amid the rapid pace of technological advancement and identifying practical priorities focused on achieving tangible impact through advanced technologies.

The session explored ways to amplify the positive global impact of artificial intelligence, expand its adoption, and develop more inclusive and flexible governance frameworks capable of keeping pace with fast-evolving technological transformations.

The discussion featured the participation of His Excellency Paula Bogantes Zamora, Minister of Science, Technology and Telecommunications of the Republic of Costa Rica, and Sri Ram Krishnan, Senior Policy Advisor at the White House. Participants underscored the importance of building a more adaptive global AI governance system that reflects the accelerated development of emerging technologies and ensures the inclusion of all countries in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.

His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama highlighted the need to develop more agile institutional models with the capacity for continuous learning to match the speed of AI evolution. He noted that computing power has become a strategic global resource, stressing that expanding access to digital infrastructure and ensuring broad participation in AI governance are critical to maximizing the economic returns of future technologies.

He also shed light on the UAE’s early investments in large-scale data centers, cloud partnerships, and sovereign AI platforms, which have strengthened the country’s position as a regional and global hub for advanced computing capabilities.

His Excellency explained that the UAE’s vision centers on embedding artificial intelligence within a comprehensive infrastructure that serves multiple sectors. He pointed out that the real challenge lies not only in the misuse of AI, but also in its underuse. The success of artificial intelligence, he said, is measured by the extent to which it is integrated into daily life, government services, education, and healthcare, as well as its ability to accelerate the adoption of smart solutions across vital sectors.

He further emphasized the UAE’s strong focus on translating AI investments into transformative improvements in government efficiency and service quality. This includes strengthening national talent readiness, building international partnerships to facilitate knowledge transfer and expertise exchange, and adopting governance frameworks that promote innovation while ensuring the responsible and inclusive use of advanced technologies at the global level.

The session also addressed the role of Global South countries in shaping AI standards and building inclusive infrastructure, as well as the importance of regional cooperation to enable broader access to computing capabilities and large-scale talent development. Participants discussed adoption challenges and the economic and social opportunities presented by artificial intelligence.

The UAE’s participation in the summit, held in New Delhi from 16 to 20 February, reflects its ongoing efforts to reinforce international cooperation in artificial intelligence, consolidate its role as a key partner in shaping the future of technology, and establish strategic partnerships that support the deployment of AI to advance sustainable development and accelerate innovation across vital sectors.
