H.E Mohammed Hasan Al Suwaidi has served as Minister of Investment in the federal government of the United Arab Emirates since the establishment of the Ministry of Investment in July 2023. Al Suwaidi is also the Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of ADQ Holding, a position he has held since May 2019. His Excellency chairs the boards of major companies, including Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), and PureHealth for healthcare services, in addition to serving as Second Vice Chairman of the Board of Aldar Properties. He also serves as Chairman of ADC Acquisition Corporation, which is concerned with strategic acquisitions.
Mohammed Hasan Al Suwaidi sits on the boards of a number of leading national institutions. He is a board member of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution (ADNOC Distribution), Abu Dhabi Gas (ADNOC Gas), and the Abu Dhabi Pension Fund. He also serves on the board of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), LuLu Group International, and MiZa for food development. In addition, His Excellency participates as a board member of the Emirates Investment Authority, the Abu Dhabi Retirement Fund, the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Research Council, Al Dahra Holding, and XRG.
His Excellency spent years at the government owned Mubadala Investment Company, during which he held a range of investment roles across the sectors of metals and mining, real estate, hospitality, infrastructure, technology, and agriculture. He also gained broad managerial experience in the banking and administrative sphere, having worked at Union National Bank and assumed responsibilities at organizations such as Abu Dhabi Ship Building and the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. These early experiences contributed to refining his investment outlook and shaping his professional formation before he assumed senior roles at the national level.
During his leadership of ADQ Holding, His Excellency Mohammed Hasan Al Suwaidi played a pivotal role in establishing the institution and directing its investments toward supporting the diversification of the national economy. He oversaw the creation of ADQ Holding and its transformation into one of the world’s largest sovereign investment institutions, with its assets tripling to exceed US$263 billion under his leadership. He contributed to steering the investment portfolio toward a diversified set of strategic sectors that support the country’s economic diversification objectives. He typically focuses on vital sectors such as energy, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, transport, logistics services, manufacturing, and financial services. More recently, he assumed new responsibilities that expand the geographic scope of his activities: in January 2026, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Lunate, the global alternative asset manager, where he is expected to leverage his expertise to strengthen the company’s global presence and attract international capital.
His Excellency Mohammed Hasan Al Suwaidi is known for adopting an ambitious vision to attract sustainable foreign investment to the UAE. According to statements attributed to him, he considers “achieving this unprecedented level of foreign direct investment inflows into the country an accomplishment that reflects the strategic choices made by the country’s leadership and its long term vision.” In this context, he focuses on developing comprehensive systems and legislation aligned with national priorities to provide a competitive environment that attracts global capital. His Excellency affirms that the UAE’s investment ecosystem has become a global model, based on its stability, transparency, and the ease of doing business in the country. Al Suwaidi oversees the implementation of the “National Investment Strategy 2031,” which sets ambitious goals, including doubling foreign direct investment inflows, strengthening sustainable growth, expanding investment opportunities, diversifying priority sectors, and opening new horizons for global companies in the markets of the future.
H.E Mohammed Hasan Al Suwaidi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from United Arab Emirates University. He began his professional career in the financial and administrative sector, where his work in banking and finance helped establish a strong knowledge base. He then moved into the field of government investment through Mubadala and the Abu Dhabi Investment Association, which enabled him to gain insight into portfolio management and the execution of deals across numerous sectors.
Alongside his executive roles, His Excellency actively participates in governmental and economic committees and councils. He is a board member of the Emirates Investment Authority and a member of the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism. He also participates in the work of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Research Council, which oversees supporting the country’s initiatives in advanced technology. He is a regular participant in international economic events and conferences representing the United Arab Emirates, which strengthens investment partnerships with countries and global organizations.
