As the UAE celebrates its 54th Union Day under the theme \u201cUnited\u201d, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority is rolling out a diverse program of cultural, artistic, and entertainment activities inspired by local heritage \u2014 spread across its cultural sites and landmarks.<\/p>\n
This initiative comes as part of the Authority\u2019s support for the national #ZayedAndRashid campaign, organized for the second year in a row by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, as part of the city’s wider National Month celebrations.<\/p>\n
From November 28 to December 3, a variety of events will be held at the Etihad Museum, Al Safa Art and Design Library, Al Shindagha Museum, Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, and Hatta Heritage Village. These events aim to tell the story of the Union, highlight the values of teamwork, showcase Emirati creativity, and celebrate authentic local culture and traditions \u2014 all in line with the Authority\u2019s mission to reinforce national identity and promote UAE heritage on a global scale.<\/p>\n
A Song That Celebrates Leadership and Legacy<\/strong><\/p>\n To mark the occasion, Dubai Culture released a special national song titled \u201cBu Khaled and Bu Rashid\u201d. Written by poet Hassan Al Obaidly, composed by artist Sharifa Ahmed, and musically arranged by Zaid Adel, the song is performed by the UAE Choir. It reflects deep pride in the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE \u2014 may God protect him \u2014 and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai \u2014 may God preserve him. The song honors their pioneering achievements that have strengthened the UAE\u2019s position globally across various fields.<\/p>\n A Historic Experience at Etihad Museum<\/strong><\/p>\n From December 1 to 3, the Etihad Museum will be illuminated in the colors of the UAE flag, opening its halls and outdoor spaces to welcome all members of society. Visitors will be able to relive the moment of the Union\u2019s declaration 54 years ago through engaging and innovative experiences that merge tradition with modern storytelling.<\/p>\n The program includes a range of artistic displays and interactive stations inspired by Emirati values and heritage. One of the standout features is a virtual reality experience that takes visitors on a tour across key landmarks in the UAE, future cityscapes, and major national achievements in sectors such as space, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy.<\/p>\n Live performances will also fill the museum grounds, with heritage troupes presenting traditional arts including harbiya, ayyala, and rababa performances, adding an authentic cultural atmosphere to the celebrations.<\/p>\n Workshops That Bring Heritage to Life<\/strong><\/p>\n At Al Shindagha Museum \u2014 the UAE\u2019s largest heritage museum \u2014 families will enjoy curated trails and creative stations near the historic Al Maktoum House. These include hands-on workshops in traditional crafts such as burqa embroidery, sadu weaving, ghaff weaving, and silver crafting, led by artisans from the Traditional Handicrafts Heritage Centre.<\/p>\n Workshops like Al Attar will introduce visitors to the use of natural ingredients in traditional medicine, while the Perfume-Making session will uncover the secrets of Emirati scent-making. Other offerings include talli embroidery, cup painting, and musical shows featuring nahma, ayyala, yola, and more.<\/p>\n Art and Culture at Al Safa Library<\/strong><\/p>\n Over the coming two days, Al Safa Art and Design Library will host an evening titled \u201cDubai Font Outside the Frame\u201d, organized in collaboration with the UAE Writers and Authors Union. The evening will feature poet Sheikha Al Mutairi, artist Shamsa Al Jasmi, and calligrapher Ali Al Hammadi, moderated by Safiya Al Shehhi. The event will explore the creative applications of the Dubai Font and display a unique collection of rare calligraphy pens and inks.<\/p>\n The library will also host an array of artistic and interactive activities inspired by Emirati heritage, including music performances, crafts, painting spaces, henna, photography corners, and a children’s majlis. Additionally, the Creativity Market will offer local talents and homegrown brands an opportunity to showcase products inspired by UAE traditions.<\/p>\n Traditional Festivities in Historic Sites<\/strong><\/p>\n On December 2 and 3, Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and Hatta Heritage Village will host a selection of cultural and artistic activities organized by Dubai Culture in partnership with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs \u2013 Dubai.
