According to data released by the Dubai Statistics Center based on figures from Dubai Municipality, the total newly planted green spaces under the municipality\u2019s supervision reached 1,204,812 square meters from the start of this year through the end of the third quarter. This brings the total planted green area across the emirate to approximately 55.1 million square meters as of September.<\/p>\n
Dubai Municipality continues to prioritize the expansion and sustainability of green spaces throughout the city. New vegetation is being added across residential areas, roadways, parks, and public places with the aim of elevating the city\u2019s urban environment, improving air quality, and strengthening Dubai\u2019s resilience to climate change.<\/p>\n
These efforts are aligned with the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, which seeks to significantly increase public parks and recreational areas, enhance the quality of life for both residents and visitors, and boost green space coverage by 5%. A key part of the strategy includes developing a network of green pathways that connect residential neighborhoods with work hubs and services\u2014making walking and cycling more accessible and encouraging sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n
In 2024 alone, Dubai Municipality planted 216,500 new trees, marking a 17% increase compared to 2023. This expansion contributes to making Dubai a more attractive, livable, and environmentally conscious city, reinforcing its long-term commitment to sustainability under the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033.<\/p>\n
The municipality is also pressing forward with beautification projects along roads and within public areas to complement Dubai\u2019s rapid urban growth. These initiatives include planting flowers on streets and in parks, expanding irrigation systems, and using advanced smart irrigation technology to ensure optimal water use\u2014supporting environmental sustainability while enhancing the city\u2019s visual appeal.<\/p>\n
In July, Dubai Municipality announced the completion of major landscaping and tree-planting projects across several key intersections and main streets, covering over 3 million square meters at a cost of AED 190 million during the first half of 2025.
