His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, inaugurated \u201cAl Shiraa\u201d, the new headquarters of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority in Al Jaddaf. The building is regarded as the world\u2019s tallest, largest and smartest positive-energy government building.<\/p>\n
The new building embodies Dubai\u2019s vision of transforming sustainability from a strategic goal into a daily practice, through major projects that enhance resource efficiency, support the use of clean energy, and employ the latest technologies to serve people and advance the government work environment.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said: \u201cWe have inaugurated a new landmark that we are proud of, as an inspiring model in sustainability, energy efficiency, and the use of technology to serve people. A tour of \u201cAl Shiraa\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum began his tour of the new headquarters by visiting DEWA\u2019s exhibition inside the building, which highlights the authority\u2019s history, key projects, initiatives, and achievements.<\/p>\n His Highness was also briefed on the main features of \u201cAl Shiraa\u201d, which introduces an advanced concept for sustainable buildings through an integrated smart system based on data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, redefining the government work environment in the digital age.<\/p>\n The inauguration of the new headquarters was attended by a number of Their Highnesses, senior officials, and DEWA leaders.<\/p>\n \u201cAl Shiraa\u201d.. an icon of sustainability and innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cAl Shiraa\u201d is an architectural icon that brings together innovation and sustainability. It relies on an advanced cognitive system that seamlessly connects the building\u2019s various operational systems.<\/p>\n The building includes more than 110,000 smart sensors that continuously monitor environmental and operational data, in addition to more than 1,500 wireless access points and over 3,200 network devices. This helps improve performance and increase operational efficiency across the headquarters.<\/p>\n This system manages the building\u2019s resources intelligently by analyzing data and converting it into operational decisions that support energy efficiency and enhance the experience of employees and visitors.<\/p>\n A unified smart application to manage systems<\/strong><\/p>\n The systems of \u201cAl Shiraa\u201d are integrated through a unified AI-powered smart application that connects around 100 independent systems working in harmony across the building.<\/p>\n These systems include smart parking management, interior spaces, access control, elevators, air conditioning, lighting, air quality, resource booking, shared mobility, and asset location tracking.<\/p>\n The application also includes 167 independent operational features, enhancing ease of use, supporting employee health and quality of life, and enabling more efficient resource management and predictive maintenance.<\/p>\n Clean energy and high production capacity<\/strong><\/p>\n The electricity production capacity of \u201cAl Shiraa\u201d is around 5 megawatts, generated through a wide network of photovoltaic panels distributed across the building\u2019s fa\u00e7ade, roof, shaded areas, and external fins.<\/p>\n The building includes 251 solar panels integrated into the fa\u00e7ade, in addition to around 8,400 solar panels installed on the roof and other areas, bringing the total capacity of the solar panels to approximately 4.821 megawatts.<\/p>\n The building has also been equipped with specialized robots to clean the solar panels, helping maintain their operational efficiency and supporting sustainable clean energy production.<\/p>\n A design that connects heritage with the future<\/strong><\/p>\n The name \u201cAl Shiraa\u201d, meaning \u201cThe Sail\u201d, reflects movement, progress, and openness. It also embodies DEWA\u2019s direction towards innovation and sustainability.<\/p>\n The interior spaces were inspired by traditional houses in the UAE, presenting a model that combines authenticity and modernity within an advanced government work environment.<\/p>\n The building consists of 19 floors, in addition to the ground floor and basement, with a built-up area exceeding two million square feet.
