Fujairah Station, the first completed passenger station within the Etihad Rail network, reflects an advanced level of readiness as the gradual launch of passenger train services approaches this year, in an important step that supports the national transport system.<\/p>\n
The station is part of the first operational phase, which is set to include Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah, opening the door to a new mode of travel between the emirates based on speed, comfort and safety, while meeting the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.<\/p>\n
During a field visit to Fujairah Station, visitors were briefed on the station\u2019s modern facilities and passenger services, in addition to an introductory train journey from Fujairah to the Bithnah area. The experience aimed to showcase operational efficiency and the level of comfort passengers can expect once the service officially begins.<\/p>\n
In this context, Athra Al Mansoori, Executive Director of the Commercial Sector at Etihad Rail Passenger Services, confirmed that Fujairah Station is a strategic project that strengthens the emirate\u2019s position within the national transport network, as it provides direct connectivity that supports the movement of individuals and businesses.<\/p>\n
She explained that the station covers an area of 51,900 square metres and has been designed as a key hub that contributes to stimulating the national economy by supporting vital sectors such as healthcare, housing, education, tourism and culture, further enhancing Fujairah\u2019s appeal as an integrated development destination.<\/p>\n
She also noted that, in its final stages, the passenger rail network will connect 11 cities and regions across the UAE, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Al Dhaid, Al Dhannah, Al Faya, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira\u2019a, Al Mirfa and Al Sila. The first operational phase is scheduled to begin this year by linking Mohamed bin Zayed Station in Abu Dhabi, Al Yalayis Station in Dubai and Fujairah Station, through a carefully planned gradual operation that ensures the highest levels of safety and efficiency, in line with global best practices in railway operations.<\/p>\n
Al Mansoori added that the project reflects a clear direction toward enhancing local content, with around 70% of construction materials sourced locally, alongside cooperation with 97 local suppliers during implementation. This contributes to supporting the national economy and strengthening supply chains within the country.<\/p>\n
The passenger train is considered a significant addition to the UAE\u2019s transport system, with a capacity of around 400 passengers and a speed of up to 200 kilometres per hour. It will also offer two travel classes, premium class and comfort class, along with modern services including high-speed internet, restrooms and a variety of meal options, providing passengers with a practical and comfortable travel experience.<\/p>\n
In terms of travel time, the journey between Fujairah and Abu Dhabi is expected to take about one hour and 45 minutes, while the trip between Fujairah and Dubai is expected to take around one hour and six minutes. These travel times will help reduce journey durations and provide a suitable option for movement between the emirates for work, study, tourism or family visits.<\/p>\n
Fujairah Station is located in the Sakamkam area, giving it a strategic location that is easy to access and strengthening its role in supporting economic and tourism activity in the emirate.
