Dubai\u2019s Roads and Transport Authority has developed a new initiative for marine transport services under the name \u201cSeasonal Network\u201d, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and making services more flexible during seasons, holidays and major events across the emirate.<\/p>\n

The initiative relies on artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to study passenger movement and forecast demand. This helps the authority prepare more accurate operating plans that can respond to seasonal changes more effectively. The operating plan for the summer season is scheduled to begin in July.<\/p>\n

The Seasonal Network is based on an integrated big data system that includes the number of marine transport users, occupancy rates, revenues and demand patterns across different periods. This data gives the authority a clearer view of operational performance and supports the development of models that improve trip schedules and resource distribution in line with customer needs.<\/p>\n

Khalaf Belghuzooz Al Zarooni, Director of Marine Transport at the Public Transport Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority, said the development of the Seasonal Network relied on advanced internal algorithms and analytical and predictive tools based on artificial intelligence. These tools can process data from multiple sources and turn it into flexible and dynamic operating plans.<\/p>\n

He explained that these tools help forecast future demand for marine transport services and apply operating models designed separately for each season. This strengthens the system\u2019s ability to respond to daily movement requirements and peak periods without affecting service quality.<\/p>\n

Al Zarooni also stressed that the initiative was not developed from a technical perspective alone, but also took into account the needs and feedback of customers. User suggestions and requirements are collected through approved channels, creating a balance between smart solutions and the human element in designing marine transport services.<\/p>\n

The project\u2019s methodology includes the use of predictive analytics to study patterns in marine transport usage and measure the impact of different variables on operating schedules and trip frequency. This helps align services with passenger numbers, occupancy levels and operational returns, which positively supports service efficiency and sustainability.<\/p>\n

Big data technologies and modern computing applications provide a flexible operating model capable of simulating customer behavior and forecasting demand for marine transport services during different seasons. The Seasonal Network initiative is applied independently for each season, while maintaining passenger requirements and improving the targets of Dubai\u2019s marine transport sector.<\/p>\n
