Dubai Sports Council has announced the launch of the \u201cOur Sports Summer\u201d initiative, which will continue until August 31, 2026, as part of its efforts to strengthen the role of sports in daily life and reinforce Dubai\u2019s position as an active sporting destination throughout the year.<\/p>\n
The initiative includes a broad program of community and competitive sports events, organized in cooperation with national institutions and sports event organizers across different areas of Dubai. The calendar features water, marine, snow and mountain sports, along with indoor activities held in sports halls and shopping malls, as well as programs dedicated to People of Determination, allowing wide participation from all segments of society.<\/p>\n
Promoting a Culture of Physical Activity<\/strong><\/p>\n Issa Sharif, Director of the Sports Events Department at Dubai Sports Council, said that the \u201cOur Sports Summer\u201d initiative aims to promote the culture of sports and physical activity among all members of the community, across different ages and nationalities, including both residents and visitors.<\/p>\n He explained that the Council is keen to encourage everyone to take part in sports events during the summer season, while providing sustainable activities that are accessible to all. This, he noted, contributes to improving quality of life and further enhances Dubai\u2019s image as one of the most active and vibrant cities in the world.<\/p>\n Running Races Inside Shopping Malls<\/strong><\/p>\n The initiative includes a variety of activities designed to suit different age groups and fitness levels, led by running races inside shopping malls, which provide an air-conditioned indoor environment suitable for participation during the summer months.<\/p>\n Among the most prominent of these activities is the \u201cDubai Mallathon\u201d, which runs from June 15 to September 15. The event gives running and walking enthusiasts, from amateurs to professionals, the opportunity to take part in races held inside several shopping malls across Dubai.<\/p>\n The Dubai Mallathon initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, witnessed strong community participation, with more than 40,000 participants. It also achieved a Guinness World Records title for the largest running race of its kind inside a shopping mall.<\/p>\n Dubai Sports World<\/strong><\/p>\n The initiative\u2019s calendar also includes \u201cDubai Sports World\u201d, which will take place from June 27 to August 25. The event offers a complete indoor sports experience through a wide range of tournaments and activities.<\/p>\n This year\u2019s edition includes new events, such as Dubai Kids World, in addition to programs dedicated to senior citizens in cooperation with Thukher Club. These activities aim to encourage senior community members to practice physical activity and benefit from sports facilities in a suitable and safe environment.<\/p>\n Summer Activities for People of Determination<\/strong><\/p>\n As part of Dubai\u2019s approach to inclusion and empowerment of all members of society, the summer activities for People of Determination will be held from June 22 to July 30 under the slogan \u201cOur Summer Is Beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n The program includes a selection of specialized activities that take into account the needs of participants, while helping to develop their skills and strengthen their involvement in sports and community events during the summer period.<\/p>\n Competitive Tournaments and Events<\/strong><\/p>\n The \u201cOur Sports Summer\u201d initiative features a large number of tournaments and competitive events, including the third round of the One Body community sports initiative, organized by former Manchester United and England football star Rio Ferdinand and his wife Kate Ferdinand, with the participation of a number of international sports stars.<\/p>\n Competitions also continue in the basketball championship held as part of the Dubai Schools Games at Dubai Basketball Centre, along with the Dubai Esports and Games Festival, \u201cExpo Games 2026,\u201d APEX Fitness Games at Dubai World Trade Centre, and the Dubai Open Football Academies Championship at Dubai Sports City.<\/p>\n The calendar also includes the UAE Communities Basketball Championship at Champs Academy, Ibn Battuta Run, and a number of championships in boxing, bodybuilding, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, swimming, badminton and sailing. Other events include the Lagos Football Championship and the MENA Futsal Cup.<\/p>\n Snow Sports Events at Ski Dubai<\/strong><\/p>\n Snow sports are also part of the initiative\u2019s program, with events hosted at Ski Dubai. These include the Freestyle Skiing Grand Prix, along with advanced training camps in alpine skiing and snowboarding.<\/p>\n The calendar also features international and local camps, including the British UNIQ snow camp, camps for Saudi and Paralympic teams, the Uzbekistan national Paralympic alpine skiing team, and the NITRO professional team camp.
