The Government of the United Arab Emirates and the World Economic Forum have announced the launch of the Annual Meetings for Global Future Leaders, marking a new milestone in the strategic partnership between the two sides. This partnership extends back more than 16 years, beginning with the Global Agenda Councils in 2009 and continuing through the Global Future Councils.<\/p>\n
The first edition of the meetings will be held in the UAE from October 13 to 15, 2026. The event will serve as an international platform bringing together an elite group of leaders, decision-makers, heads of major global companies, experts, innovators and thought leaders from various sectors.<\/p>\n
The meetings aim to empower future leaders and strengthen their role in developing practical and innovative solutions to global challenges. They will also benefit from the experience of both established and emerging leaders in shaping new pathways for vital sectors closely linked to people\u2019s lives and the future of societies.<\/p>\n
The launch of these meetings reflects the continued development of cooperation between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum. The initiative builds on a shared journey that began with the Global Agenda Councils and continued with the Global Future Councils, whose outcomes have contributed over the past years to the agenda of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.<\/p>\n
H.E. Mohammad Al Gergawi said the new initiative reflects the direction and commitment of the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum to encourage a comprehensive international cooperative movement, with the future at its core and people as its ultimate focus. He noted that the initiative is an extension of a partnership that has lasted more than 16 years through the organization of the Global Agenda Councils and the Global Future Councils. Over the years, their outcomes have contributed to the World Economic Forum agenda in Davos and helped establish a distinct approach to transforming future-oriented visions into innovative solutions and ideas that have created positive change in sectors most closely connected to people\u2019s lives and the future of the planet.<\/p>\n
His Excellency added: \u201cThese meetings are not a new beginning, but the result of an extended journey of partnership that has proven that investing in minds and strengthening international cooperation is the most impactful and sustainable investment.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the unprecedented transformations the world is witnessing in technology, the economy, society and the environment require stronger dialogue and broader participation by tomorrow\u2019s leaders in designing the future and shaping solutions that will affect the lives of billions of people over the coming decades. He also stressed that the joint organization of the Global Future Leaders Meetings reflects the UAE\u2019s leadership as a global hub for partnership, international cooperation and future foresight, as well as a platform for initiatives that bring together and inspire minds and talents from around the world to help build a better future.<\/p>\n
For his part, Alois Zwinggi, President and Chief Executive Officer of the World Economic Forum, said the Annual Meetings for Global Future Leaders will help bring together emerging and established global leaders on one platform, strengthening the intergenerational dialogue needed to address the urgent challenges facing the world.<\/p>\n
He added that real progress can only be achieved through cooperation between different generations and sectors, which is what these meetings seek to promote through open discussions and the exchange of insights and expertise.<\/p>\n
Larry Fink, Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum, said the next phase requires leaders who are able to turn change into opportunities by focusing on long-term outcomes and building relationships based on the exchange of ideas and experience.<\/p>\n

This will support the development of shared visions and proactive policies that enhance countries\u2019 readiness and help them lead future transformations more effectively.<\/p>\n
The meetings will also provide a global platform for exchanging views on the future of development and exploring the policies and models best suited to keeping pace with rapid change. This will help promote innovation in decision-making, support the development of more flexible governments, build more competitive economies and prepare societies more effectively for the future.<\/p>\n
The Annual Meetings for Global Future Leaders will attract a wide range of global figures, including government leaders, heads of companies and international institutions, experts, academics, thinkers and innovators from different continents.<\/p>\n
The meetings will also witness the participation of members of the World Economic Forum\u2019s communities, including Young Global Leaders, Global Shapers and social innovators, in addition to representatives from academic, research, cultural, sports and artistic institutions.<\/p>\n
A group of young Arab leaders will also take part in the meetings through the Great Arab Minds and Young Arab Leaders initiatives.
