Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives has announced the launch of a new initiative to support digital education, to be implemented by the Digital School. The initiative aims to reach more than 500,000 beneficiaries across six African countries: the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Kingdom of Lesotho, the Republic of Zambia, the Republic of Namibia, and the Republic of Angola.<\/p>\n
The sustainable educational initiative includes several pillars and projects, including support for school education, the establishment of digital learning spaces, the development of teachers\u2019 capabilities, and the training of young people in skills required by the labor market. The Digital School has already begun coordinating the implementation of these projects by signing memoranda of cooperation with the relevant authorities in the targeted countries.<\/p>\n
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital School, said the initiative comes as part of the Digital School\u2019s efforts to expand its programs and reach larger segments of students, teachers, and young people in underserved communities around the world.<\/p>\n
He said the Digital School is guided by its belief that digital education can serve as an important gateway to positive change in the future of communities. He explained that the school continues to build effective partnerships with entities and institutions inside and outside the UAE, in a way that supports the development of educational and cultural systems and opens new scientific and technological opportunities for individuals and communities.<\/p>\n
He added that using advanced digital solutions in education helps empower underserved groups to overcome the challenges they face in their educational journey, while giving students broader opportunities to access flexible, high-quality education.<\/p>\n
The initiative aims to create a broad educational and developmental impact over three years through flexible learning and training pathways supported by technology. It will enable students to access high-quality digital education and train tens of thousands of teachers in modern teaching methods and digital skills.<\/p>\n
The initiative also seeks to equip tens of thousands of young people with practical skills that strengthen their readiness to enter the labor market, in addition to establishing 100 digital learning spaces across the six African countries included in the initiative.<\/p>\n
The educational programs under the initiative will be delivered in seven languages, enhancing their inclusiveness and their ability to reach diverse groups of learners. This will also make it easier for students to access educational resources and internationally recognized scientific references that help develop their abilities and encourage them to continue learning.<\/p>\n
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives was launched in 2015 as an umbrella organization for the various initiatives and institutions supported by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, over more than two decades.<\/p>\n
The foundation includes more than 30 initiatives and institutions that carry out hundreds of projects, programs, and campaigns across five main areas of work: humanitarian aid and relief, healthcare and disease control, spreading education and knowledge, innovation and entrepreneurship, and community empowerment.<\/p>\n
The foundation works to promote a culture of hope and contribute to addressing major humanitarian, developmental, and social challenges in different regions of the world. It places special focus on underserved communities and on investing in people by empowering talent, developing skills, and building qualified human capabilities that can contribute to the development of their societies.<\/p>\n
The foundation also seeks to improve access to education in marginalized and disadvantaged communities, contribute to fighting poverty, diseases, and epidemics, and promote the values of tolerance and coexistence among peoples and societies.<\/p>\n
The Digital School, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, in November 2020, falls under the pillar of spreading education and knowledge. It aims to provide students with digital learning options in areas where suitable conditions for continuing education are not available. It also offers a quality model for blended and remote learning, with a particular focus on underserved groups, refugees, and displaced communities.<\/p>\n
The Digital School provides an advanced educational model that goes beyond traditional curricula and makes use of artificial intelligence to create personalized learning plans for each student, based on data analysis, performance levels, and interaction. This helps tailor the learning process to the needs and skills of each learner.<\/p>\n
The Digital School is the first internationally accredited digital school specialized in education for underserved communities. It works to enable learners and teachers to access high-quality digital education through an inclusive and innovative model.<\/p>\n
The Digital School\u2019s programs and services currently reach more than 850,000 beneficiaries in 40 countries. Its educational content is offered in seven languages: Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Kurdish.<\/p>\n
The Digital School has also built a broad network of partnerships with international organizations, governments, and leading universities, supporting access to high-quality education and contributing to the training of digital teachers.
