and Travel in Dubai: Smart Service Completes Passenger Procedures in Just 12 Seconds

Dubai’s General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs has officially launched the “Click and Travel” service, marking a new step toward faster passenger processing and greater flexibility for passport control officers handling arrivals and departures across Dubai airports.

The service allows passport officers to complete entry and exit procedures using mobile devices inside airport terminals, making it possible to reach passengers in different locations, particularly during busy periods or situations that require a rapid response.

“Click and Travel” relies on a range of advanced technologies that allow passenger information to be verified and procedures to be completed quickly and securely, supporting Dubai’s continued efforts to make the travel experience smoother and more efficient.

Travel Procedures Completed in 12 to 15 Seconds

Through the “Click and Travel” service, a passenger’s transaction can be completed in about 12 to 15 seconds, thanks to an integrated system of digital and biometric technologies.

The service uses biometric identification and facial recognition, along with electronic passport scanning and automated pre-screening of passenger information.

The mobile devices also give passport officers immediate access to the required information through a secure communications network, helping speed up procedures while maintaining the accuracy of verification processes.

This approach gives teams greater flexibility to complete transactions from different locations across the airport instead of relying only on fixed service points.

More Than 31,000 Passengers Served During the Trial

The service recorded strong results during its trial phase, with procedures completed for 31,373 passengers through “Click and Travel.”

That figure was recorded from the start of the expanded trial phase in May 2026 through the end of August, as part of efforts to assess the service’s operational efficiency and prepare for wider use.

The trial also helped measure the system’s ability to serve different categories of passengers and test its performance in a real airport environment before moving to the official launch stage.

Greater Flexibility During Peak Travel Periods

One of the key advantages of “Click and Travel” is that it allows passport officers to move around airport terminals and complete passenger procedures using portable devices.

This gives operational teams greater flexibility, as officers can be deployed to areas experiencing heavier passenger traffic, helping manage passenger flows and reduce waiting times.

The benefit becomes especially important during peak travel periods and seasons that see higher numbers of arrivals and departures, as well as in emergency situations that require a faster response.

As a result, the service is not only designed to shorten transaction times but also provides an operational tool that helps airport teams manage passenger movement more efficiently.

A Development Journey That Began in 2025

“Click and Travel” went through several stages of development and testing before reaching its official launch.

The first trial phase began in October 2025, when the service was introduced for passengers at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport.

In May 2026, the service moved into a second trial phase that covered all passenger categories across the different terminals at Dubai airports, allowing broader testing and helping confirm the system’s readiness for wider implementation.

Following the successful trial stages, Dubai’s General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs officially launched the service on September 7, 2026.

Who Can Use the Click and Travel Service?

The “Click and Travel” service is available to different categories of travelers, including UAE citizens, residents, Gulf Cooperation Council nationals, and visitors.

This broad coverage allows the service to be used for both entry and departure procedures across Dubai airports.

Expanding the service after the testing phases also reflects Dubai’s move toward wider use of advanced digital solutions designed to simplify the passenger journey from arrival at passport control through completion of the required procedures.

Dubai’s General Directorate of
