In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God protect him, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes\u2019 Affairs and Chairman of Etihad Rail, jointly inaugurated Etihad Rail\u2019s Dubai Station on 28 September 2026.<\/p>\n
The inauguration marked the official launch of the UAE\u2019s national passenger rail network and the beginning of a new phase of expansion to connect more cities and regions across the country, ahead of the expansion of passenger services between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah on 30 September 2026.<\/p>\n
Ahead of the inauguration, His Highness the UAE President travelled aboard an Etihad Rail train from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. During the journey, His Highness was briefed on Etihad Rail\u2019s operational systems, national objectives and passenger services, which are designed to deliver a travel experience in line with the highest international standards.<\/p>\n
Upon arriving at the station, His Highness met with several Emirati professionals working on the project and posed for commemorative photographs with them.<\/p>\n
The inauguration ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; His Excellency Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; and a number of senior officials.<\/p>\n
During the inauguration, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, toured the station and reviewed its facilities, passenger services and operational systems, including advanced technologies designed to provide a seamless travel experience from arrival and ticket booking to boarding and reaching the final destination.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Hamdan also received a briefing from His Excellency Shadi Malak, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Rail, on the station\u2019s role within the national passenger rail network and its importance in strengthening connectivity between Dubai and the rest of the UAE.<\/p>\n
Etihad Rail will officially expand its passenger services on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, connecting Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah. The expansion follows the introductory operational phase between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, which began on 30 June 2026. Dubai and Al Dhaid stations are scheduled to open as part of the expansion.<\/p>\n
Tickets are available through the official Etihad Rail mobile app, the company\u2019s website and ticket vending machines at stations, with fares starting from AED 39 for Comfort Class and AED 109 for Premium Class.<\/p>\n
The expanded service will provide residents and visitors with an additional transport option for travelling between the emirates, offering a comfortable and convenient alternative for journeys across the UAE.<\/p>\n
Etihad Rail\u2019s Dubai Station will serve as a key connection point between the national railway network and Dubai\u2019s wider transport system, allowing passengers to continue their journeys using a range of public and private transport options.<\/p>\n
The station is directly connected to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station via a dedicated pedestrian bridge, enabling passengers arriving from Abu Dhabi and Fujairah to transfer conveniently to Dubai Metro and reach destinations across the city.<\/p>\n
Etihad Rail\u2019s integration with Dubai\u2019s Nol system will allow passengers to book their train journeys and public transport services using a single QR code.<\/p>\n
The unified code can be used across Etihad Rail, Dubai Metro, tram and bus services, providing passengers with a more seamless travel experience and making it easier to switch between different modes of transportation.<\/p>\n
Etihad Rail\u2019s passenger services are operated by Etihad Rail Mobility, a joint venture between Etihad Rail and Keolis, one of the world\u2019s leading passenger transport operators.<\/p>\n
