Dubai Municipality has opened registration for the 2026-2027 winter camping season in Al Ruwayyah, running from November 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027, with new camping options, improved facilities, and activities for families.<\/p>\n
This year’s season will feature 600 winter camps, a 120% increase compared with previous seasons, along with 50 dedicated caravan sites introduced for the first time. The expansion is part of the municipality’s efforts to provide a more flexible and enjoyable winter camping experience while enhancing public spaces and community well-being.<\/p>\n
For the first time, Dubai Municipality has allocated 50 sites specifically for caravans, offering citizens more options for enjoying the desert during the winter months.<\/p>\n
The season also brings back double-sized camps covering up to 800 square meters, alongside single camps measuring 400 square meters.<\/p>\n
In addition, 10 fully equipped camps will be available for daily rental, allowing families to enjoy a complete camping experience without preparing their own campsite.<\/p>\n
With the number of camps increasing to 600, Dubai Municipality aims to accommodate more families and provide greater flexibility in choosing suitable camping spaces.<\/p>\n
The expansion forms part of ongoing efforts to develop public facilities and create safe, organized, and family-friendly environments where citizens can enjoy Dubai’s winter weather.<\/p>\n
Dubai Municipality has also designated 10 spaces for winter gatherings and events, including family activities, community programs, entertainment experiences, and seasonal markets.<\/p>\n
These additions are intended to transform Al Ruwayyah from a traditional camping area into a more comprehensive winter destination, offering visitors opportunities for recreation and social interaction.<\/p>\n
The winter camping season will also provide investment opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, with spaces already allocated for local businesses.<\/p>\n
These opportunities cover food and beverages, recreational activities, and desert experiences, enabling entrepreneurs to offer their products and services to campers and visitors.<\/p>\n
The initiative supports local economic activity while adding more services and entertainment options to the camping experience.<\/p>\n
Bader Anwahi, Chief Executive Officer of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, emphasized the municipality’s commitment to developing winter camping facilities in line with community needs.<\/p>\n
He said: “We continue at Dubai Municipality to develop the winter camping experience in a way that meets the aspirations of the community. This season, we are providing a safe desert camping environment suitable for families, offering more diverse and flexible options, along with new facilities, services, and spaces for family and community activities. This makes the camps an integrated destination for spending unique winter moments that enhance the quality of life and well-being of Dubai’s community.”<\/p>\n
He added: “We have been keen to enable small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in enriching this experience through diverse investment opportunities, supporting entrepreneurs and local economic activity, and strengthening the integration of recreational, community, and economic aspects in public spaces.”<\/p>\n
The developments reflect Dubai Municipality’s broader vision to further improve Al Ruwayyah as a winter destination combining family entertainment, community engagement, and support for local businesses.<\/p>\n
Permit holders can design and equip their camps according to their needs once the required permit has been issued and campsite boundaries have been established.<\/p>\n
Campers must follow the approved regulations, including installing temporary fencing and using the campsite exclusively for family purposes and camping activities.<\/p>\n
The municipality has also allocated spaces for participating government entities, allowing them to design camps that meet their requirements.<\/p>\n
Seasonal reservations range from three to six months, while caravan sites and daily rental camps have separate booking options subject to approved conditions.<\/p>\n
Dubai Municipality has invited UAE citizens to register and reserve winter camps through its official digital channels.<\/p>\n
Reservations are available through the municipality’s winter camping website or the DubaiNow application, according to the applicable requirements and available options.<\/p>\n
The season will continue until April 30, 2027, giving families six months to enjoy winter camping in Al Ruwayyah.<\/p>\n
