His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, witnessed the announcement of Nad Zabeel, the Dubai Future Research Complex, a new research and knowledge development project launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation.<\/p>\n
The complex is designed to become a global center for research, development, and innovation, supporting Dubai’s ambitions to remain at the forefront of shaping the future.<\/p>\n
In a post on his official X account, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said:<\/p>\n
\u201cLife has taught me that the future is not something to be waited for, but something to be made..<\/p>\n
And that the challenges facing nations are not caused by the rapid pace of future developments, but rather by the slowness in preparing for them and thinking about them. Today, we are launching the (Dubai Future Research Complex), which we have named (Nad Zabeel).. Its goal is to attract 30,000 researchers and specialists to benefit from its services in developing vital future sectors connected to human life.\u201d<\/p>\n
His Highness added:<\/p>\n
\u201cNad Zabeel will complete our strategic ecosystem for institutionalizing the process of shaping the future.. It will join the Dubai Future Foundation, the Museum of the Future, the Dubai Future Academy, and others to collectively form the best environment in the world for anticipating, preparing for, and shaping the future.. And what lies ahead will be more beautiful, God willing.\u201d<\/p>\n
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized that Dubai continues to develop its integrated system for shaping the future, guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which has made anticipating global changes and preparing for them an essential part of institutional work.<\/p>\n
His Highness said:<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai became the first city in the world to institutionalize an integrated system of government work based on anticipating and shaping the future, transforming future thinking from individual initiatives and projects into a sustainable institutional approach.. This journey began years ago, and Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision has since evolved into an integrated system of institutions, initiatives, and projects working to design the future and prepare for its transformations.\u201d<\/p>\n
His Highness added:<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, this ecosystem includes the Museum of the Future, the Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai Future Accelerators, Dubai Future Labs, and Dubai Future Academy. These are integrated institutions and projects that work to anticipate transformations, develop talent, test solutions, and turn ideas into practical applications..<\/p>\n
Today, we continue this journey with the launch of \u2018Nad Zabeel,\u2019 which represents a significant addition to Dubai’s ecosystem for shaping the future, and a global center that brings together scientific research, development, and innovation, transforming knowledge into new economic and development opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n
His Highness affirmed:<\/p>\n
\u201cShaping the future in Dubai is not a slogan or a temporary project, but an integrated institutional system whose foundations were laid by Mohammed bin Rashid, and which we continue to develop and build upon..<\/p>\n
Our goal is for Dubai to remain a pioneer in anticipating global transformations, developing solutions to future challenges, attracting the best minds and expertise, and consolidating its position as a global center for producing knowledge and shaping the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
The announcement was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, along with several ministers and senior officials.<\/p>\n
His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of the Dubai Future Foundation, said:<\/p>\n
\u201cNad Zabeel represents a practical translation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, in establishing research and development as a key driver of development and the creation of economic opportunities. The complex will provide a global institutional platform bringing together researchers, universities, technology companies, investors, and government entities within a single environment, strengthening Dubai’s position as a trusted destination for scientific talent and knowledge-based investments, and an influential center in the economy of the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
The complex will focus on developing innovative solutions across vital sectors that directly affect people’s lives, including artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced technology, urban technologies, healthcare technology, and environmental solutions. It will also help turn scientific research into practical applications and economic projects.<\/p>\n
Nad Zabeel will be developed in the Zabeel Park area and will feature scientific laboratories, research centers, and innovation incubators designed to attract scientists, researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and specialists from the UAE and around the world.<\/p>\n
Construction and operational preparations are expected to be completed within five years, under the supervision of the Dubai Future Foundation.<\/p>\n
Located in the heart of Dubai, the complex will be close to several major landmarks and business destinations, including Burj Khalifa, Dubai International Financial Centre, the Museum of the Future, Emirates Towers, and Dubai Frame.<\/p>\n
Nad Zabeel will bring together international technology companies, universities, academic institutions, and government entities, alongside startups, investors, and centers specializing in the development of future-focused legislation. It will also provide facilities for scientific events, professional gatherings, and knowledge-sharing activities.<\/p>\n
The complex will offer business accelerator programs and incubators to help promising startups develop their projects, secure investment opportunities, and expand their operations. More than 30,000 scientists, researchers, and entrepreneurs are expected to take part in its activities each year.<\/p>\n
The project also aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The agenda includes 100 transformative projects and aims to double the size of Dubai’s economy over the decade leading up to 2033, while strengthening the emirate’s position among the world’s top three economic cities.<\/p>\n
By supporting knowledge-based industries, attracting specialized talent and investment, and encouraging the growth of technology companies, Nad Zabeel will contribute to Dubai’s broader economic development goals.<\/p>\n
Nad Zabeel will serve as a major hub for the initiatives and projects of Dubai’s Research, Development and Innovation Ecosystem, whose formation was directed by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum last December, under the supervision of the Dubai Future Foundation.<\/p>\n
The ecosystem aims to strengthen cooperation between government entities, private companies, and research institutions, while supporting the development of projects that make use of the latest technologies and advanced applications. These efforts are intended to serve Dubai’s economic, developmental, and social priorities.<\/p>\n
The name Nad Zabeel draws inspiration from Emirati heritage.
