New UAE Cabinet ministers were named on Saturday following a reshuffle that was approved by President\u00a0Sheikh Khalifa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid<\/a>, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, unveiled the line-up, including several new ministers.<\/p>\n

“Following consultations with my brother\u00a0Mohammed bin Zayed<\/a>\u00a0and after approval of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, we announce today the new ministerial structure in the\u00a0UAE<\/a>\u00a0together with a new strategy for federal government work in the next 50 years,” he said.<\/p>\n

Among the changes are:<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed\u00a0<\/b>was appointed as\u00a0Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

–\u00a0Mohamed Al Hussaini<\/b>\u00a0was made\u00a0Minister of State for Financial Affairs<\/b>. He succeeds the long-serving Obaid Al Tayer. Sheikh Mohammed gave his \u201cthanks and appreciation to brother Obeid for his service and dedication”.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Abdullah Al Nuaimi<\/b>\u00a0was named\u00a0Minister of Justice<\/b>. Outgoing minister Sultan Al Badi was thanked for his service and dedication.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Dr Abdurahman Al Awar<\/b>\u00a0was named\u00a0Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation<\/b>. Outgoing minister Nasser Al Hamli was thanked for his service.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Mariam Al Mheiri\u00a0<\/b>was made\u00a0Minister of Climate Change and Environment<\/b>. Ms Al Mheiri, who was Minister of State for Food Security, continues that responsibility in her new role.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Abdullah Al Ketbi\u00a0<\/b>was made\u00a0Minister for the Affairs of the Federal Supreme Council<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Mohammed said: \u201cThe new strategy comes with the implementation of our previous plan,\u00a0UAE Vision 2021<\/a>, through which we achieved all our ambitions in the past 10 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday the UAE is a global leader in 100 development indicators and a regional leader in 470 government, economic and technical indicators.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we are entering the next 50 [years] with different global ambitions.\u201d<\/p>\n

New strategy<\/h2>\n

Outlining the new strategy on Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed said government work \u201cwill be led by major transformative projects and not just long-term strategic plans”.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next cycles of change will be flexible and fast (between six months to two years), unlike the previous strategic cycles which used to last five to 10 years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPriorities for sectors will be determined \u2026 followed by identifying clear transformative projects and ministerial teams will be created to implement these projects \u2026 and there will be reliance on our national frameworks for their deep understanding of the field and the mechanism of change in determining the new government’s priorities.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Sheikh Mohammed said there will be a shift from \u201cindividual responsibility of ministries to shared responsibility among the field teams”.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will sign performance contracts with these teams to implement projects and observe them from the Cabinet,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Mohammed said there will incentives and promotions based on performances of the field teams and their ability to implement the projects set by the Cabinet.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will determine the first 10 teams and 10 major projects in the government through the Cabinet, and sign the performance contracts and set a timeframe for these projects and implement a number of incentives for the executive teams,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to achieve a faster response to our ambitions and the aspirations of our people \u2026 and to implement effective transformations \u2026 and to increase the efficiency of our federal government and national framework.\u201d<\/p>\n
