Dubai has secured a place among the world’s 10 safest cities for Generation Z travelers in 2027, according to a ranking published by US travel insurance company Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection. The emirate’s inclusion highlights its growing appeal to younger travelers and its ability to offer a tourism experience that combines safety, modern facilities and a wide choice of activities.
The recognition comes as personal safety, convenient transportation and reliable services become increasingly important to young people choosing their travel destinations. Alongside these priorities, Gen Z travelers are looking for cultural experiences, entertainment and technology-driven services that make their trips easier and more enjoyable.
Dubai Ranks Ninth Among Safest Cities for Gen Z
Dubai placed ninth in the 2027 ranking, joining a group of major international destinations rated highly for safety by younger travelers.
San Francisco took the top spot, followed by Mexico City and Amsterdam. Paris ranked fourth, with Oslo fifth and San Juan sixth. Zurich and Tokyo occupied seventh and eighth places, respectively, ahead of Dubai in ninth and London in tenth.
The results were drawn from a survey involving more than 1,500 respondents, with particular emphasis on people who had already traveled to the cities being assessed. Their feedback helped establish how safe they felt during their visits, including while staying in the cities and moving between different locations.
The assessment considered several aspects of travel safety, among them public transportation, the quality of healthcare and safety for women. These are increasingly important considerations for younger travelers, who often weigh the practical aspects of visiting a destination alongside its attractions and activities.
Gen Z Strengthens Dubai’s Position on the Global Tourism Map
Generation Z, generally comprising people born between 1997 and 2012, is becoming an influential segment of the international travel market. Its growing interest in travel, together with changing habits in how destinations are discovered and assessed, is helping shape the future of tourism.
For many travelers in this age group, the decision about where to go begins online. Social media and digital platforms play an important role in discovering new places, reading about other people’s experiences and deciding which destinations are worth visiting. A city’s reputation for safety is therefore an important part of its appeal.
Dubai is well positioned to attract these visitors through its international character, cultural diversity and range of tourism experiences. Modern infrastructure, smart services and entertainment options offer younger travelers opportunities to explore the city while enjoying the convenience and reassurance they seek during a trip.
Dubai Secures Strong Positions in 2026 Safety Rankings
Dubai had also achieved a strong result in Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection’s detailed rankings for 2026, taking seventh place among the world’s safest cities based on assessments by Gen Z travelers.
The emirate finished ahead of Cairo, San Francisco and Dublin. Reykjavik led that ranking, followed by Seoul, Zurich, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Mexico City.
Dubai recorded another notable result among travelers who spend more than $25,000 a year on their trips, ranking first in this category.
The result points to the emirate’s appeal among high-spending travelers, for whom safety and the quality of the overall visitor experience are important considerations when selecting a destination.
UAE Tops Gen Z Rankings for Safest Countries
The UAE also performed strongly at the country level, ranking seventh worldwide in the overall list of the safest countries for travel in 2026.
Among respondents from Generation Z, however, the UAE took first place, making it the highest-ranked country for safety in that particular group.
The results reflect the confidence younger travelers place in the UAE as a destination, supported by its modern infrastructure, quality services and ability to welcome visitors from a broad range of countries and cultural backgrounds.
Dubai’s position among the leading cities complements the UAE’s performance at the national level, with both rankings showing the importance travelers attach to safety when considering destinations in the country.
Modern Infrastructure and Diverse Experiences Boost Dubai’s Appeal
Dubai’s tourism offering is supported by an extensive network of modern infrastructure, developed transportation services and digital facilities that make it easier for visitors to plan their stays and travel around the emirate.
Its hospitality sector, entertainment attractions, shopping destinations and cultural offerings provide options for visitors with different interests. Travelers can choose from a wide range of experiences while benefiting from services designed to make moving between destinations more convenient.
This variety is particularly relevant to younger visitors, whose travel decisions are not based solely on well-known attractions. The ease of organizing a trip, access to services and the ability to explore a city comfortably are also part of what they look for.
Dubai’s multicultural environment adds to that appeal, giving travelers opportunities to encounter different cultures and experiences during a single visit.
