During the annual Ramadan media gathering organized by the Dubai Government Media Office, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, delivered a powerful message on the essential role of media in modern society.
Addressing a select group of media professionals, Sheikh Mohammed underscored that media is far more than a channel for news—it is a force that shapes awareness, inspires innovation, and contributes to the social and economic advancement of a nation.
“Media is not just about information,” Sheikh Mohammed stated. “It is about enlightenment, inspiration, and motivation. In a fast-changing world, credible and responsible media stands as a cornerstone of stable and prosperous societies.”
Accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, Sheikh Mohammed praised the journey of Emirati media over the last 50 years. He noted that Emirati media has played a key role in chronicling the country’s development and amplifying its achievements on the global stage.
He urged media institutions to prioritize continuous development—both in technological infrastructure and human capital. According to Sheikh Mohammed, empowering new generations of Emirati journalists and content creators is essential to maintaining the UAE’s global standing and crafting a pioneering media model that reflects the nation’s ambitions.
“Dubai is not just a host to media companies—it is a creative platform and a hub for global talent,” he said. “We will continue to support this sector because we believe in the power of media to elevate societies and safeguard their future.”
In a post on his official ‘X’ account, Sheikh Mohammed further remarked: “Media is a message, a power, and an influence for good—if we use it wisely. Good media builds minds, while bad media destroys achievements. The choice is ours.”
