This initiative, announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, targets individuals who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to environmental protection, sustainability, and clean energy.

Streamlined Application Process

The newly launched visa allows eligible individuals currently residing outside the UAE to enter the country and complete the necessary procedures to obtain the Blue Residency. Applicants can submit their applications through the authority’s smart services platform or mobile application, ensuring a user-friendly and efficient process.

The application involves five straightforward steps:

  1. Filling out personal information and uploading required documents.

  2. Paying the applicable fees.

  3. Submitting the application.

  4. Receiving confirmation via email.

  5. Awaiting processing, which is completed within one working day upon submission of all necessary documents.

Required documents include a valid passport with at least six months’ validity, a recent color photograph, and supporting documents verifying the applicant’s eligibility for the Blue Residency.

Eligibility Criteria

The Blue Residency is intended for individuals who have made significant impacts in the fields of environmental protection, sustainability, and clean energy. Eligible categories encompass:

  • Distinguished influencers with notable contributions to environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation.

  • Scientists and researchers with global recognition in environmental and sustainability fields, subject to nomination by the UAE Council of Scientists.

  • Investors and entrepreneurs engaged in green technologies and sustainable ventures.

  • Specialists working within governmental or private environmental institutions in the UAE.

Advancing the UAE’s Sustainability Goals

The introduction of the Blue Residency aligns with the UAE’s strategic vision to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship. By attracting global talent and expertise in environmental fields, the UAE aims to reinforce its commitment to ecological preservation and sustainable development.

This initiative builds upon previous long-term residency programs, such as the Golden and Green Residencies, further solidifying the UAE’s position as a hub for innovation and sustainability.
