Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, emphasized that an aware and engaged family serves as the first line of defense in protecting children from negative behaviors and social risks. He affirmed that the role of the family goes beyond care and nurturing—it extends to instilling genuine values and principles in children, helping shape strong, balanced individuals capable of facing life’s challenges.

His remarks came during his participation in the “Drug Prevention Forum,” currently taking place at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi and running until June 29. Sheikh Saif explained that this year’s forum theme, “Aware Family… Safe Society,” aligns with the objectives of the “Year of Community” and reflects a national vision that believes true prevention begins at home. Conscious parenting, he noted, is the foundation for raising a generation that is aware and grounded in its values.

He added: “Let us all be partners in creating a safe environment that strengthens belonging and protects future generations. Every family that understands its role contributes to building a society whose walls cannot be breached and a nation deeply rooted in its values.”

The forum aims to raise public awareness about the dangers of drug use and the importance of collective action in prevention, by reinforcing the pivotal role of families in safeguarding children and contributing to the continued building of a prosperous future.
