On August 5th, 2025, the Zayed Humanitarian and Charity Foundation marked a significant milestone—33 years of unwavering commitment to humanitarian service, since its establishment in 1992 by the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace. Over the past three decades, the foundation has cemented its position as a beacon of compassion, delivering more than AED 2 billion in aid to over 185 countries around the world.

In a statement commemorating the occasion, His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Foundation, praised the United Arab Emirates’ global leadership in the field of humanitarian and development work. He attributed the nation’s continued success to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, whose efforts have elevated the country to the forefront of international humanitarian initiatives.

Sheikh Nahyan emphasized that the UAE’s unique global standing in humanitarian aid is a reflection of decades of sincere and dedicated work, rooted in the values and legacy of Sheikh Zayed. The country has become a model of solidarity, compassion, and proactive support for those in need, with institutions like the Zayed Humanitarian Foundation playing a central role in delivering meaningful and lasting aid.

Through sustainable development projects focused on education, healthcare, clean water, and social care, the Foundation has helped improve the lives of millions across some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

Dr. Mohamed Ateeq Al Falahi, Director General of the Foundation, highlighted the significance of the 33rd anniversary, calling it a pivotal moment in the Foundation’s journey. He reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to Sheikh Zayed’s humanitarian values—providing aid to all, without discrimination, and forming strategic partnerships to ensure long-term impact.

In the first half of 2025 alone, the Foundation implemented a number of vital initiatives, including:

  • Establishing child care centers for people of determination in Kazakhstan,

  • Launching solar-powered water desalination projects in Egypt, Jordan, and Tanzania,

  • Constructing schools in Tajikistan,

  • Supporting the operation of hospitals and medical centers in Pakistan, Mauritania, and Morocco.

Dr. Al Falahi also noted that the Foundation signed several agreements with both humanitarian organizations and government bodies to expand its reach and ensure the sustainability of its projects. These steps are part of a broader strategy to maximize humanitarian impact and reinforce the UAE’s status as a global hub for philanthropy.

As it looks to the future, the Zayed Humanitarian Foundation remains firmly rooted in the noble legacy of its founder and guided by the steadfast support of the UAE’s leadership. With a clear mission and expansive vision, it continues to serve as a proud example of what sustained, values-driven humanitarian work can achieve on the global stage.
