Most Beautiful Sustainable Home Garden Competition

Dubai Municipality has officially launched the third edition of its highly anticipated competition, “Most Beautiful Sustainable Home Garden in Dubai”, with total prizes reaching AED 300,000. The competition is designed to inspire residents to transform their private garden spaces into green, environmentally sustainable havens using modern landscaping and sustainable agricultural techniques.

This initiative aligns with Dubai’s broader commitment to sustainability, urban greenery, and community participation. It also coincides with the national theme of the “Year of the Community,” reinforcing the role of individuals and households in shaping a greener, more sustainable future for the emirate.

Promoting Sustainable Living

The competition encourages residents to take an active role in environmental stewardship by turning their gardens into eco-conscious spaces. The goal is not only to beautify private properties but also to strengthen the culture of sustainability within neighbourhoods and communities across Dubai.

In support of this goal, Dubai Municipality is organizing workshops, awareness campaigns, and digital content that provide participants with the knowledge and tools to create gardens that conserve water, reduce energy usage, and use native or climate-adapted plants.

According to officials, the initiative represents more than an aesthetic movement—it is a community-wide push to embed environmental responsibility into daily life. Every garden, they say, becomes a reflection of the city’s identity and vision for sustainable urban living.

Who Can Participate

The competition is open to all residents in Dubai who own or rent homes with garden space in residential areas. Eligible gardens must follow specific sustainability and design guidelines and will be judged based on how well they balance beauty with environmental responsibility.

Judging Criteria

Entries will be evaluated by a panel of experts using ten main criteria:

  1. Efficient water management

  2. Biodiversity and use of native or adapted plant species

  3. Soil health and organic fertilization

  4. Waste reduction and composting practices

  5. Energy efficiency and use of renewable sources

  6. Air quality improvement

  7. Maintenance, safety, and accessibility

  8. Effective use of space

  9. Innovation and sustainable technologies

  10. Overall garden aesthetics and design quality

These standards aim to highlight gardens that are not only beautiful but serve as models of innovation and environmental awareness.

Timeline and Rewards

  • Registration is open until December 21, 2025

  • Shortlisted entries will be evaluated on-site in January and February 2026

  • Winners will be announced in March 2026 during a special awards ceremony

Top prizes include AED 100,000 for first place, AED 70,000 for second place, and AED 40,000 for third place, along with additional awards and a raffle for top participants.

Why This Matters

This initiative plays a key role in achieving the objectives of Dubai’s Urban Plan 2040, which focuses on improving quality of life, increasing green spaces, and promoting sustainable development. It transforms individual action into citywide impact, turning every household into a contributor to Dubai’s green future.

By combining creativity, sustainability, and community spirit, the “Most Beautiful Sustainable Home Garden” competition turns private green spaces into public inspiration—one garden at a time.
