Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism has issued a circular to hotel managers across the emirate regarding the extension of stays for guests impacted by flight suspensions, cancellations, or delays due to the current exceptional circumstances.

According to the circular, the move comes in line with directives from the Dubai Government aimed at providing all necessary support and assistance to international visitors, ensuring their accommodation is not disrupted by unforeseen developments.

The department called on hotel establishments to cooperate fully in facilitating extensions for guests who are unable to depart for reasons beyond their control, while maintaining the same terms and conditions of the original booking.

It also stressed that no guest should be asked to vacate their room under the present circumstances if they are unable to cover the cost of the extended stay. Hotels have been urged to notify the department immediately in such cases, providing details including the original length of stay, the extension period required, and any related challenges or observations.

In a similar move, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi issued a circular to hotel managers concerning the extension of stays for guests unable to travel due to the current situation.

The department explained that the decision is based on Law No. 8 of 2018, which established the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and outlines its responsibilities in advancing tourism development in the emirate.

Hotels in Abu Dhabi have been instructed to extend the stays of guests whose departure dates have arrived but who cannot travel due to circumstances beyond their control, until they are able to leave.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi confirmed that it will cover the costs of the extended stay period, underscoring the emirate’s commitment to supporting visitors and ensuring their comfort and wellbeing until travel operations return to normal.
