The Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) has announced a $100 million contribution, equivalent to approximately AED 367 million, to support the “Edge of Life” campaign aimed at saving five million children from dying of hunger. The humanitarian campaign was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai may God protect him, during the holy month of Ramadan.
The campaign seeks to raise at least AED 1 billion, which will be invested in initiatives focused on combating child hunger and malnutrition around the world.
This partnership with the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation reflects the global humanitarian dimension of the “Edge of Life” campaign and highlights its ability to mobilize international cooperation in addressing hunger and malnutrition among children worldwide.
The collaboration is also part of CIFF’s broader international efforts, in partnership with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and other global partners, to protect children in vulnerable communities from the risks of hunger and poor nutrition.
Global estimates indicate that one in four children under the age of five suffers from severe food poverty. This means that around 181 million children do not receive the minimum level of dietary diversity required for healthy growth and development.
His Excellency Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Secretary General of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, said that the “Edge of Life” campaign to save five million children from hunger draws inspiration from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to launch major humanitarian initiatives that accelerate global efforts to eliminate hunger.
His Excellency noted that CIFF’s partnership in this Ramadan campaign highlights the vast potential of collaboration between humanitarian and charitable organizations worldwide. Such cooperation, he said, can empower vulnerable communities to provide adequate nutrition for their children and help save millions of young lives through ambitious plans and sustainable funding.
For his part, Sir Chris Hohn, Founder and Chair of the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, said that preventing child deaths caused by malnutrition should be a reality rather than merely an aspiration. However, he noted that the world still has a long way to go to achieve this goal.
He added that the foundation believes children deserve to grow up in a safe world where they enjoy good health and the opportunity for proper development. This requires collective action to ensure that children do not lose their lives or their potential due to malnutrition.
Sir Chris Hohn also expressed pride in partnering with the “Edge of Life” campaign launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He emphasized that strengthening cooperation with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and expanding international partnerships can help save five million children from the devastating long-term consequences of malnutrition during their early years.
The “Edge of Life” campaign continues to welcome contributions from individuals and institutions through several channels. Donations can be made through the campaign’s official website, by calling the dedicated hotline at 8004999, or through bank transfers to the campaign’s account at Emirates Islamic Bank.
Supporters can also contribute via SMS within the UAE by sending the word “Life” or “حياة” through the “du” and “e&” networks. Donations of AED 10, AED 50, AED 100, or AED 500 can be made through designated numbers.
In addition, donations can be made through the DubaiNow app under the donations category, via the YallaGive platform, or through the Dubai Community Contributions Platform “Jood,” which allows individuals and organizations to create dedicated donation wallets for humanitarian causes.
This initiative reflects the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian commitment to supporting vulnerable communities around the world and ensuring that children have access to proper nutrition, health, and a better future.
