Art Dubai has revealed early details of its special 2026 edition, which will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, from 15 to 17 May 2026 at Madinat Jumeirah, with a preview day for VIP guests on 14 May. The upcoming edition reflects Dubai’s continued rise as a leading global centre for culture, the arts, and the creative economy.
This year’s edition marks an important milestone in the fair’s 20-year journey. It looks back on the development of the regional art scene while also highlighting Dubai’s ability to shape cultural conversations on an international level. Over the years, Art Dubai has grown beyond the idea of a traditional art fair to become a broad platform that brings together artists, galleries, collectors, and cultural institutions within one connected ecosystem.
The special edition is being organised in partnership with Dubai Culture as a strategic partner, alongside A.R.M. Holding and a wider network of leading cultural institutions. This collaborative model reflects the close relationship between the public and private sectors in supporting the creative economy and building a stronger cultural infrastructure in the city.
Art Dubai 2026 will feature more than 75 artistic presentations, with galleries from around 20 countries taking part, as well as a strong presence from institutions across the region. This international and regional balance continues to be one of the fair’s defining strengths, reinforcing Dubai’s role as a point of connection between local, regional, and global art markets.
The programme will span contemporary, modern, and digital practices, reflecting the wider changes taking place across the global art world. At the same time, the fair remains deeply rooted in Dubai and the region, continuing its commitment to showcasing artistic voices and practices that speak to both regional identity and international context.
More than 45 gallery presentations will be included in this edition, with participants from the region making up around 60 percent of that total. The fair will also spotlight galleries in Dubai that have grown alongside Art Dubai over the years, while welcoming new regional and international exhibitors joining the event for the first time.
One of the notable developments this year is the introduction of an innovative risk-sharing model for galleries. Under this approach, booth costs will be linked to success, a move designed to support galleries more sustainably and help them continue to grow despite global challenges. The initiative reflects Dubai’s broader commitment to building long-term resilience within the creative industries.
Alongside the gallery presentations, the fair will offer an expanded cultural programme featuring exhibitions, large-scale installations, commissioned works, live performances, film screenings, and daily talks and discussions. This wider programme aims to create a richer experience for visitors and encourage deeper engagement between artists, institutions, and the public.
Among the highlights of the special edition is And We March, a major presentation from the Dubai Collection, the city’s first institutional collection of modern and contemporary art. The fair will also host the 20th edition of the Global Art Forum, commissioned by Shumon Basar, as well as an exhibition of modern Arab art from the Barjeel Art Foundation. Additional collaborations include a performance programme with Sharjah Art Foundation, moving image works presented with Alserkal Avenue, and joint projects involving Art Jameel, the National Pavilion UAE, the Venice Biennale, the Ministry of Culture, and Beit Al Fann.
With free public admission, Art Dubai continues to strengthen community participation and make art more accessible to wider audiences. In doing so, it supports Dubai’s long-term vision of culture as an essential part of quality of life and as a key pillar in building a sustainable, knowledge-based economy driven by creativity and innovation.
