Strong Demand Revives Domestic Tourism in Dubai as Luxury Hotels Attract Residents

Luxury hotels in Dubai are seeing active demand and a clear rise in occupancy, supported by the growth of domestic tourism and the increasing desire of residents to enjoy high-end stays without leaving the city.

Palm Jumeirah stands out as one of the most attractive destinations for this type of stay. Five-star hotels on the island are welcoming a strong number of local guests, especially during weekends and public holidays. These hotels offer an atmosphere that combines luxury and relaxation, with a wide range of facilities including private beaches, swimming pools, restaurants, and leisure activities.

This momentum is mainly driven by promotional offers and discounts designed for residents, making the idea of a staycation in Dubai more appealing and accessible. These packages have allowed many residents to experience luxury resorts and enjoy their services at more suitable rates compared with regular periods.

Fadi Iskandarani, a doctor who has lived in Dubai for five years, said that the special offers encouraged him to spend a weekend at one of Palm Jumeirah’s resorts, noting that he had never visited one of its hotels before. His experience reflects a growing trend among residents to discover nearby tourist destinations and benefit from the offers available to them.

At Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort, known for its over-water villas and Thai-inspired design, occupancy rates on Fridays and Saturdays reach strong levels ranging between 70% and 90%. The resort’s facilities are busy with guests looking for relaxation and a break from work pressure and the fast pace of daily life.

Michael Robinson, the resort’s general manager, said local guests have played a clear role in supporting the resort’s performance and maintaining positive occupancy levels. This highlights the importance of domestic tourism as a key contributor to Dubai’s hotel sector, especially as demand continues for short stays and luxury experiences within the city.
