Passenger numbers gained momentum month by month during the second quarter, while Dubai Airports expects an even stronger second half of the year, supported by additional scheduled flights, international transfer traffic, the winter travel season, and Dubai’s busy calendar of global events.
13 Million Passengers During the Second Quarter
Dubai International Airport welcomed 13 million passengers during the second quarter of 2026, with passenger traffic rising consistently throughout the period.
The airport served 3.5 million passengers in April, followed by 4.5 million in May, before reaching 5 million passengers in June.
The steady monthly increase highlights growing travel activity and the continued expansion of airline operations through Dubai.
150,600 Aircraft Movements
Dubai International Airport recorded 150,600 aircraft movements during the first half of the year, including approximately 62,500 movements during the second quarter.
By the end of June, the airport was serving 50 international airlines and connecting travelers with 217 destinations across 99 countries.
The extensive network reinforces Dubai International Airport’s position as one of the world’s leading aviation hubs and an important gateway connecting passengers across major international markets.

Air Cargo Volume Reaches More Than 751,000 Tons
Dubai International Airport handled 751,340 tons of air cargo during the first half of 2026, including 351,716 tons during the second quarter.
Cargo operations remain an important part of the airport’s activity, supporting Dubai’s connections with international trade and logistics markets and strengthening the emirate’s role as a major global transport hub.
Strong Baggage Handling Performance
Dubai International Airport handled 30.3 million bags during the first half of 2026, including 12.7 million during the second quarter.
The airport recorded a mishandled baggage rate of just 2.7 bags per 1,000 passengers, compared with the global average of approximately 4.9 bags per 1,000 passengers.
This performance highlights the efficiency of Dubai International Airport’s baggage handling systems and its ability to manage large passenger and baggage volumes while maintaining high operational standards.
Fast Passport Control and Security Screening
Dubai International Airport continued to deliver smooth and efficient passenger processing, with 98.98% of travelers completing departure passport procedures in less than 10 minutes.
At arrivals, 98.95% of passengers completed passport procedures in under 15 minutes, while 99.34% passed through security screening in less than five minutes.
These figures underline the airport’s focus on fast, seamless travel and a high-quality passenger experience.
