Dubai’s Global Village

Dubai’s Global Village has achieved another international milestone, surpassing Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, in average daily attendance. The achievement highlights the growing presence of the Dubai destination on the global tourism and entertainment map.

The milestone comes as Global Village prepares to reopen in mid-October 2026 with a fresh look, following three decades of success during which it has welcomed more than 100 million visitors from around the world.

Although Global Village operates for only about 60% of the year, its annual attendance has exceeded that of several internationally renowned theme parks, including popular attractions operated by Disney and Universal Studios.

Global Village Surpasses Disney in Average Daily Attendance

Data from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) shows that Global Village welcomed 10 million visitors over just 202 operating days in 2024, averaging 49,505 visitors per day. By comparison, Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida recorded an average of 48,732 daily visitors during the same year.

These figures are particularly significant given that Global Village closes during Dubai’s summer months, while Magic Kingdom operates throughout the year.

Global Village’s regular operating hours are also approximately 38% shorter than those of Magic Kingdom. Despite this difference, the Dubai attraction recorded higher average daily attendance, as well as approximately 33% more visitors per operating hour, according to the comparative figures.

The results demonstrate the strong visitor demand for Global Village and its ability to attract large crowds during a considerably shorter operating season than major international theme parks that remain open year-round.

More Than 100 Million Visitors Over Three Decades

Global Village has continued to strengthen its position as a major tourism and entertainment destination, welcoming more than 100 million visitors over the past three decades.

The attraction recorded approximately 10 million visitors in 2024, with attendance rising to 10.5 million in 2025, reflecting continued growth in visitor numbers.

Despite its seasonal operations, Global Village has surpassed the annual attendance of several attractions included in the rankings of the Themed Entertainment Association. These include Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Hong Kong Disneyland, Universal Studios Florida, and Universal Studios Hollywood.

The figures reflect the remarkable development Global Village has undergone over the years. It has become a destination that brings together cultural experiences and entertainment activities in one location, attracting millions of visitors each season.

Why Is Global Village Missing From the World’s Top Theme Park Rankings?

Despite outperforming Magic Kingdom in average daily attendance, Global Village does not appear in the official rankings of the Themed Entertainment Association. Magic Kingdom continues to hold the top position because the association does not classify Global Village as a traditional theme park.

According to the comparative analysis, Global Village could have ranked 12th worldwide if it had been included in the association’s rankings based on visitor numbers.

Edward Shaw, a director at Entertainment + Culture Advisors, the consulting firm associated with TEA’s attendance data, said Global Village is well known to the organization and that its development and performance have been monitored for many years.

He explained that the destination has gradually evolved into a more permanent attraction, with its operating season expanding from two or three months in previous years to approximately seven months today.

Shaw said that, under the current classification, Global Village is considered closer to a multicultural festival or exhibition featuring amusement rides than a traditional theme park. As a result, it does not qualify for inclusion under the association’s existing theme park ranking criteria.

Experts Call for Global Village’s Position to Be Reconsidered

Global Village’s continued development has attracted the attention of entertainment industry experts, particularly as its annual visitor numbers grow and its international profile continues to expand.

Phil Taylor, managing director of Team Leisure Consulting, said that Global Village’s development over the years has led to its name being mentioned increasingly within the theme park category.

He added that Global Village has become one of the world’s strong-performing entertainment destinations and believes it deserves to be included in TEA’s rankings.

Shaw, meanwhile, said the association continually reviews its ranking criteria and the attractions eligible for inclusion. He added that Global Village’s position will remain under review in the coming years so that it can receive the recognition it deserves.

Disney Leads in Total Attendance as Global Village Achieves a Remarkable Milestone

Although Global Village has surpassed Magic Kingdom in average daily attendance, Disney maintains a substantial lead when the total number of visitors to all its theme parks worldwide is taken into account.

Disney’s 14 theme parks across four countries welcomed approximately 145.2 million visitors in 2024. Magic Kingdom in Florida attracted the highest attendance among them, averaging 48,732 visitors per day.

Global Village, by contrast, has achieved its attendance figures through a single destination in Dubai, without operating any branches outside the United Arab Emirates. This makes its visitor numbers particularly notable given its shorter operating season compared with Disney’s theme parks.

Its lead in average daily attendance marks a significant achievement for a destination that combines entertainment, culture, and shopping, offering visitors an experience that differs from the traditional theme park concept.

Dubai Prepares for Another Successful Season

Global Village is preparing to welcome visitors once again in mid-October 2026 with a fresh look, following the success of previous seasons and the continued increase in its visitor numbers.

The upcoming season follows a period in which the destination has strengthened its position among the world’s leading entertainment attractions, drawing millions of visitors during a limited operating period each year.

Having welcomed more than 100 million visitors over three decades and increased its annual attendance to 10.5 million in 2025, Global Village continues to strengthen Dubai’s presence on the international tourism and entertainment map.
