The UAE Government organized a specialized workshop on applying Agentic AI across the tracks of government services, operations and institutional support. The workshop brought together more than 50 ministries and federal entities, and over 300 officials and specialists from various areas of government work.
The workshop comes in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God protect him, and within the framework of the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, of the UAE Government’s new system, which aims to convert 50% of federal government operations and services into Agentic AI models within two years.
The Ministry of Cabinet Affairs organized the workshop in Dubai with the aim of launching the implementation tracks of the new government system, starting work on activating the government services track and the operations and institutional support track, in addition to mapping services and operations across ministries and federal entities, in preparation for identifying priorities and applying Agentic AI models to them within 90 days.
Agentic AI Supports Government Efficiency
His Excellency Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee for the Agentic AI Project, affirmed that organizing the workshop comes in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, to accelerate the adoption of Agentic AI applications and deploy them across various fields of government work. This will enhance government performance efficiency, raise the quality of services, and support the UAE’s objectives of building a more flexible and future-ready government.
His Excellency said: “The UAE is consolidating its global leadership in adopting best government practices by developing flexible work models that employ the capabilities of Agentic AI. The adoption of artificial intelligence represents an advanced phase in the journey of developing government work, given the qualitative capabilities it provides in supporting employees, accelerating task completion, enhancing productivity, and developing decision-making mechanisms based on data and knowledge, which positively reflects on the efficiency of government work and the quality of its outputs.”
His Excellency added: “Through this workshop, we aim to empower federal government talents to benefit from Agentic AI applications and develop their skills in using modern tools and technologies within work environments. This aligns with the UAE’s direction to strengthen its global leadership in adopting best practices and developing innovative government work models that invest in the opportunities offered by advanced technology.”
Mapping Government Operations and Setting Priorities
For her part, Her Excellency Maryam bint Ahmed Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Cabinet, and Head of the Operations and Institutional Support Track in the Agentic AI Project, affirmed in her remarks during the workshop that the UAE Government aims, through the operations and institutional support track, to remove restrictions and achieve a qualitative leap in government work in the UAE.
Her Excellency stated that work on the track began by mapping operations across ministries and federal entities, identifying priority operations to be transformed into Agentic AI models, and mapping existing applications as well as those currently being developed by federal entities, leading to the preparation of an implementation plan for the Agentic AI Project for the operations track at the federal government level.
Her Excellency added that the operations track during the workshop identified 10 main pillars, with the participation of more than 140 officials and specialists from various federal government entities. These pillars included human resources, procurement and contracts, financial and administrative affairs, legislative affairs, internal audit, digital transformation and technical support, facilities management and maintenance, in addition to joint operations and other operations across ministries and federal entities.
A Government Model for the Next Phase
His Excellency Mohammed bin Taliah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Government Knowledge Exchange and Head of the Services Track, reviewed the government work model for the next phase. The model aims to enable government entities to select priority services and operations for the application of Agentic AI models.
The model focuses on achieving a clear impact for society across its various segments, whether individuals or institutions, by improving the quality and efficiency of government services and facilitating access to them.
His Excellency affirmed that government teams possess the expertise, competencies and spirit of innovation needed to ensure the success of Agentic AI applications. He noted that the UAE has proven throughout its development journey its ability to turn ambitions into practical achievements and to develop government work models capable of keeping pace with change.
Criteria for Selecting Services and Operations for Transformation
Participants in the workshop discussed the criteria that help government entities select priority services and operations to be transformed into Agentic AI models. These criteria included the volume and intensity of operations, the level of service complexity, the number of annual transactions, the number of beneficiaries, and the nature of the groups benefiting from the service.
The criteria also included the readiness of the service or operation for transformation, based on the clarity and documentation of procedures, the availability of updated data, the level of automation, and the quality of outputs. The expected impact on service quality, cost efficiency, and the satisfaction levels of customers and beneficiaries was also discussed.
Initial Applications to Be Launched Within 90 Days
The workshop framework included having each government entity select one specific service or operation to apply Agentic AI to, with the goal of launching it within 90 days.
The action plan includes three main phases, beginning with the exploration phase to select the most suitable service or operation, followed by the design phase to develop the targeted journey, and then the preparation of the implementation plan, which focuses on defining application requirements and setting the initial executive steps.
The implementation of these projects will be followed up periodically over three months with government entity teams, ensuring the necessary support is provided, targets are achieved, and the selected services are launched within the specified timeframe.
This step affirms the UAE Government’s commitment to employing Agentic AI in a practical and well-studied manner that supports employees, improves the customer experience, and opens the way for a new phase of government work that is more flexible, efficient and future-ready.
