Asma Al Hosani, Director of Operations at The Green Planet, one of Dubai Holding Entertainment’s destinations, said the attraction gives visitors the opportunity to enter a living tropical rainforest in the heart of Dubai. It is home to more than 3,000 plants and animals, where guests can experience tropical rainfall and explore the rainforest’s four different levels.
She added that the destination offers distinctive interactive experiences, including camping in the rainforest and the “Zookeeper for a Day” program, giving visitors innovative ways to connect with nature. She emphasized that The Green Planet, as a certified autism center and part of the Sunflower program for hidden disabilities, is committed to making the experience welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for everyone.
Dubai Butterfly Garden is also considered one of the emirate’s leading indoor tourist attractions. During the summer season, it welcomes between 200 and 300 visitors per day on weekdays, while the number rises to around 500 visitors on weekends.
During the winter season, visitor numbers increase to between 500 and 800 on weekdays and reach around 1,000 on weekends. The garden receives an average of between 100,000 and 150,000 visitors annually.
The garden is home to between 5,000 and 10,000 butterflies each month, depending on the season and butterfly availability. Since opening in March 2015, it has continued to offer an integrated educational and entertainment experience for visitors of all ages inside an environment designed to reflect the butterflies’ natural habitats.
The garden supports summer tourism in Dubai as one of the city’s indoor destinations where families and visitors can enjoy an experience that combines entertainment and learning in a comfortable setting away from high temperatures. This makes it a popular choice during the summer season.
The garden also plays an educational role through its ongoing partnerships with schools and the weekly school trips it hosts. Students have the opportunity to learn about the butterfly life cycle, different butterfly species, and their natural habitats.
