His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, was born in 1970 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. He received his primary and secondary education in Abu Dhabi schools and earned a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the United States of America in 1993.
In 1997, upon his return to the UAE after completing his university studies, His Highness was appointed Head of the Office of his father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He remained in this position until Sheikh Zayed’s passing in November 2004. On November 2, 2004, he was appointed Minister of Presidential Affairs following the merger of the “Office of the President” and the “Ministry of Presidential Affairs.” In the cabinet reshuffle on May 12, 2009, he became Deputy Prime Minister. In July 2022, he was named Chairman of the Presidential Court under a federal decree-law issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. On March 29, 2023, he was appointed Vice President of the UAE under a federal decree-law issued by the President.
On September 25, 2023, Federal Decree-Law No. (26) of 2023 was issued, amending certain provisions of Federal Decree-Law No. (4) of 2004 regarding the establishment and organization of the “Presidential Court.” The decree stipulated that the term “Chairman of the Presidential Court” shall replace “Minister of the Presidential Court,” and the word “Chairman” shall replace “Minister.”
