The National Space Science and Technology Center at United Arab Emirates University announced the successful launch of the SEO satellite aboard a Long March-2C rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the People’s Republic of China.
The successful launch of the SEO satellite marks another important milestone in the center’s ongoing efforts to develop national space projects, strengthen the UAE’s capabilities in the space sector, and support the country’s strategic direction toward leadership in science, technology, and innovation.

His Excellency Eng. Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, said that the successful launch of the ‘SEO’ satellite is in line with the UAE’s vision and National Space Strategy, which aims to consolidate the country’s position among the world’s leading nations in the space sector and strengthen the contribution of science and advanced technology to sustainable development and the knowledge economy.
He added that the mission reflects the importance of integration between national and academic institutions in building an advanced space ecosystem that contributes to developing national capabilities and empowering future generations to lead the future of the space sector.

For his part, Dr. Nabil Mohammed Al Bastaki, Director of the National Space Science and Technology Center, added that the ‘SEO’ project represents an extension of the center’s efforts to develop national space projects that contribute to building Emirati capabilities and strengthening the practical experience of researchers and engineers in the fields of satellite design, development, and operations.
He expressed pride in the successful launch of the mission, which reflects the center’s level of technical and technological readiness, as well as the advanced infrastructure it possesses, including integration and testing facilities and the ground station in Al Ain.
