Dubai is preparing to open the world’s first gold walkway before the end of 2026, adding a new tourist attraction to the emirate and further strengthening its position as a global destination for tourism and the gold and jewelry trade.
Dubai Gold District has announced that the upcoming walkway will be the first of its kind and the longest in the world. Made from 24-karat gold, it will offer tourists and visitors the opportunity to walk along a golden pathway within the district.
The announcement comes as Dubai celebrates two new Guinness World Records for the heaviest pair of gold earrings and the largest pair of earrings in the world. The handcrafted earrings feature a traditional dangling design known as Jhumkas.

Dubai Gold District Enters a New Phase of Expansion
Dubai Gold District continues to expand as demand grows among companies involved in the gold and jewelry trade for new offices, retail stores, and commercial space within the district.
According to Al Harmoodi, the number of wholesale gold trading offices that began operating in the district increased by 20% between the beginning of 2026 and October.
The district also recorded a 15% increase in new stores specializing in gold, jewelry, precious stones, and luxury watches during the same period.
Al Harmoodi explained that expansion work is continuing to accommodate growing demand from companies seeking to establish their operations and manage their businesses from within Dubai Gold District.
The development plans include providing additional areas for offices and retail outlets as more businesses move into the district.
He expects the number of companies relocating to Dubai Gold District to grow by between 10% and 20% in 2027, supported by the availability of new commercial spaces under the ongoing expansion plans.
Plans for the Middle East’s Largest Gold and Jewelry Exhibition
As part of its ongoing development plans, Dubai Gold District has also announced a new exhibition project intended to become the largest gold and jewelry trading exhibition in the Middle East.
The planned exhibition is part of the district’s efforts to strengthen its position as a major center for gold and jewelry trading and support the growing number of businesses operating in the sector.
The project comes alongside preparations for the gold walkway and the continued expansion of office and retail facilities across the district
Dubai Sets Two New Guinness World Records
Dubai has added two more achievements to its record of international milestones after Joyalukkas Jewelry officially secured two Guinness World Records with an extraordinary pair of gold earrings.
The handcrafted creation earned recognition as the heaviest pair of gold earrings and the largest pair of earrings in the world.
The earrings feature a traditional dangling design known as Jhumkas, which is associated with Indian jewelry craftsmanship.
Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, unveiled the earrings during an event held at a Joyalukkas showroom in Dubai Gold District.
During the ceremony, an official representative of Guinness World Records presented the two record certificates to Dr. Joy Alukkas and John Paul Alukkas, in the presence of Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.
Gold Earrings Weighing More Than 16 Kilograms
The record-breaking earrings are named “Sahasra Mayil,” meaning “A Thousand Peacocks.” Their design was inspired by the peacock, a bird that symbolizes beauty, grace, and pride in Indian culture.
The pair has a net weight of 16.514 kilograms and is made from 22-karat gold. Its weight exceeds the previous world record by more than five times.
Creating the earrings required several months of detailed handcrafting by a team of highly skilled artisans at Joyalukkas, who worked on the intricate design and decorative elements.
Commenting on the achievement, Joy Alukkas, Chairman of Joyalukkas Group, said, “Dubai has achieved another global milestone with a pair of gold earrings entering Guinness World Records after setting two records as the heaviest pair of gold earrings and the largest pair of earrings in the world, featuring a traditional dangling design.”
He confirmed that Guinness World Records had officially recognized both achievements.
Alukkas also explained that the earrings would be preserved as a work of art rather than offered for sale, and that they would remain on permanent display in Dubai.
