
As part of the Latin America and Caribbean Dialogue organized by the World Governments Summit (WGS) in the Dominican Republic, ministers, leaders, and global experts gathered to explore future governance, cross-regional cooperation, and innovation-driven development.
During the high-level discussions, His Excellency Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Governments Summit, highlighted the Summit’s strategic importance:
“The Summit represents a platform for enhancing international dialogue and positive partnerships, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God protect him, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God bless him,” Al Gergawi said.“It seeks to strengthen global dialogue aimed at building bridges of international cooperation and enabling countries, governments, and societies to actively participate in shaping the future.”
He further stated:
“The Latin America and Caribbean region represents a vital pillar in strengthening South–South dialogue, which has become a strategic necessity in today’s rapidly evolving world. These transformations and growing challenges call on governments to develop shared directions and clear visions that drive sustainable progress through strong international partnerships.”
Strategic Partnership with the Dominican Republic
Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader praised the growing friendship and cooperation between his country and the UAE, pointing to the Summit as a global platform that strengthens ties between Latin America and the UAE. He stressed the value of cooperation in innovation, economic development, and government excellence.
President Abinader noted that such partnerships reflect a joint vision for a more resilient and prosperous future, especially in light of global uncertainties and economic transitions.
Noura Al Kaabi Highlights Innovation and Cultural Diplomacy
H.E. Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State, also participated in the dialogue, emphasizing the importance of building bridges between the UAE and Latin America and the Caribbean in innovation, culture, and economic diplomacy.
She noted that international platforms like the Latin America–Caribbean Dialogue offer broad and promising prospects for cooperation and partnership between the two regions, while reinforcing the Summit’s role as a unifying platform for shaping future strategic directions.
Advancing Knowledge and Policy Collaboration
The dialogue witnessed the signing of a knowledge partnership agreement between the World Governments Summit and the Center for Public Policy Analysis (CAPP) in Latin America. The agreement aims to facilitate policy research, exchange of best practices, and foster mutual understanding between the Middle East and Latin America.
Shaping the 2026 Summit Agenda
The Latin America–Caribbean Dialogue included ministers, senior officials, international organizations, private sector leaders, and academics. The sessions explored governance innovation, digital transformation, regional cooperation, and investment strategies.
The outcomes of the dialogue will contribute significantly to the agenda of the World Governments Summit 2026, providing new perspectives and actionable insights to help governments develop inclusive, innovative, and future-focused policies.
