Emirates is continuing to refine its award-winning Premium Economy experience with a new seat that brings together comfort, privacy, and technology in a way not previously seen in this cabin class.
The airline is introducing the world’s first fully electric Premium Economy seat, complete with an adjustable privacy divider that extends the full height of the seat between each pair of passengers.
The new seat will make its first appearance on newly delivered Emirates Airbus A350 aircraft. Along with a more modern design, it gives travelers greater control over how they sit, relax, and use their personal space throughout the flight.
A New Seat on Airbus A350 Aircraft
Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin on the Airbus A350 has just 28 seats in a 2-3-2 layout, creating a cabin that feels more open and less crowded.
Each seat is 20 inches wide, while the seat pitch reaches 39 inches, giving passengers generous legroom and more room to settle in, particularly on longer journeys.
The seat has also been designed to recline comfortably without significantly reducing the space available to the passenger behind.
That means travelers can relax or sleep more comfortably while still maintaining a better sense of space throughout the cabin.
Electric Privacy Divider Introduced for the First Time
One of the most noticeable features of the new seat is its electric privacy divider.
The divider extends to the full height of the seat and is being introduced for the first time anywhere in the world in a Premium Economy cabin.
Passengers can raise or lower it using controls built directly into the seat and stop it at whatever height feels most comfortable.
The idea is simple but practical. Travelers can create more privacy when they want to rest, eat, work, or simply enjoy some personal space during the journey.
It also gives passengers more control over their surroundings, something that can make a real difference on a long flight.
Full Electric Control of the Seat Position
The seat itself is another first for Emirates Premium Economy, as all of its main adjustments are electrically operated.
Passengers can change their seating position at the touch of a button using the built-in controls.
There are dedicated settings for relaxing and dining, while travelers can also adjust the seat to suit their own comfort at different points during the flight.
The electric controls make moving between positions easier and more intuitive, especially on long-haul journeys where passengers may want to change how they sit several times.
U-Dream Headrest for Added Comfort
Emirates has also focused closely on head and neck support.
The new seat comes with the U-Dream headrest from Safran, a feature that has already proved popular on other Emirates aircraft.
Made from leather, the headrest is designed to provide stronger support for the head and neck, while the side sections can be moved into different positions depending on individual preference.
There is also a leather-covered footrest that can be opened manually.
Together, the headrest and footrest are intended to make it easier for passengers to settle into a comfortable position and reduce leg fatigue, particularly during longer flights.
Wireless Charging and USB-C at Every Seat
Technology is another important part of the updated Premium Economy experience.
For the first time in this cabin, Emirates is introducing wireless charging for compatible personal devices.
Each seat also comes with a USB-C port, giving passengers another convenient option for keeping phones and other devices charged throughout the journey.
The tray table includes a built-in phone holder as well, allowing travelers to position their device in front of them while eating or watching their own content.
It is a small detail, but one that makes using personal technology onboard feel more convenient and practical.
4K Screen and the ice Entertainment System
Passengers will continue to have access to Emirates’ ice information, communication, and entertainment system, but through an upgraded 13.3-inch touchscreen.
The display offers 4K resolution and High Dynamic Range technology, delivering sharper images, richer detail, and a more polished viewing experience.
Navigation has also been designed to feel quick and responsive, making it easier to move between movies, TV shows, music, and other entertainment options.
On the newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft, passengers will also get more ways to see what is happening outside.
New external camera angles on the left and right sides of the aircraft will join the existing forward and downward views, offering a broader perspective during different stages of the flight.
A Dining Experience Inspired by Business Class
Emirates is also continuing to bring elements of its Business Class approach into Premium Economy dining.
Passengers are served carefully selected menus inspired by regional flavors and prepared by Emirates chefs.
Meals are presented on Royal Doulton tableware, with linen napkins and stainless steel cutlery from Robert Welch.
These touches help give the dining experience a more refined feel and underline the airline’s effort to make Premium Economy distinct from a traditional economy-class service.
Reusable Travel Amenity Kits
On long-haul flights, Premium Economy passengers also receive reusable amenity kits created by Emirates in partnership with United for Wildlife.
The bags are made using bio-based materials, including cactus-based leather alternatives.
Their designs highlight endangered wildlife species across four different natural habitats, adding an environmental theme to the collection.
Emirates is also introducing Aveda skincare products in Premium Economy for the first time.
Made with plant-based ingredients, the products are included alongside other travel essentials such as socks, an eye mask, earplugs, and dental care items.
More sustainable materials are also used across several parts of the kit.
Emirates Continues to Expand Its Premium Economy Experience
Emirates launched Premium Economy in 2022 and has steadily expanded the cabin across its growing fleet since then.
The product is now available in markets served by the airline’s Airbus A350 aircraft.
From the beginning, Emirates has drawn inspiration from the service and comfort standards associated with its Business Class product, while adapting them to the Premium Economy cabin.
The result is a travel experience built around wider seats, more legroom, greater privacy, upgraded dining, and a strong inflight entertainment offering.
The cabin has also received international recognition.
Emirates won the “Best Premium Economy” award at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards in both 2024 and 2025, while it was also named “World’s Best Premium Economy” at the 2025 ULTRAs.
Those awards reflect how quickly the airline has established its Premium Economy product as an important part of its wider onboard offering.
A New Step in Emirates’ Innovation Journey
The arrival of the world’s first fully electric Premium Economy seat with a full-height privacy divider adds another chapter to Emirates’ long history of investing in the passenger experience.
Over the years, the airline has introduced and developed a wide range of onboard technologies, from inflight connectivity and Wi-Fi to increasingly advanced entertainment systems and continuous improvements in seat and cabin design.
With the new seat coming to the Airbus A350, Emirates is once again pushing Premium Economy closer to a more premium style of travel.
By combining electric seat controls, added privacy, improved comfort, modern charging options, upgraded entertainment, and refined hospitality, the airline is aiming to make the experience feel more complete from the moment passengers take their seats.
The latest development also reflects Emirates’ broader approach to travel: continuing to improve the details that matter most to passengers while keeping comfort, quality, and innovation at the center of the journey.
