Home Date Palm

The Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center has announced the launch of the “Home Date Palm” competition as part of the third edition of Dubai Dates 2026, which will be held from July 18 to 26 at Al Rimal Castle on the Dubai-Al Ain Road. The new category aims to expand community participation and strengthen the presence of the palm tree in national awareness.

This new competition builds on the direction Dubai Dates has followed since its launch, by introducing special categories that open the door for wider participation from different segments of society. It also gives the heritage competition broader social and cultural dimensions that go beyond prizes and recognition.

A New Addition to Dubai Dates Competitions

The Home Date Palm competition comes as an extension of the initiatives introduced during the previous two editions of Dubai Dates, which included first-of-their-kind categories at the national level, such as the Home Palm Tree competition, the Government Entities competition, and the Al Nader Cup.

These competitions have helped enrich the event’s program and strengthen its presence among community members. They have also reflected Dubai Dates’ ability to develop the concept of heritage competitions and connect them more closely with the daily lives of families.

The third edition of the event brings to life one of the initiatives announced during the previous edition, giving those interested in participating enough time to prepare and care for their home-grown palm trees before the start of the competitions.

A Competition Dedicated to Home-Grown Palm Trees

The new category is dedicated exclusively to palm trees grown inside homes, giving families and individuals the opportunity to showcase their efforts in caring for and preserving the palm tree. It also encourages the continued presence of the palm within the home environment as part of everyday Emirati life.

The competition further strengthens children’s connection to the palm tree, not only as a fruitful tree, but also as a symbol of generosity, patience, and belonging to the land, as well as a heritage element that has lived in the memory of Emirati families across generations.

Abdullah bin Dalmook: A Social and National Message

Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook, CEO of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center, said that adding the Home Date Palm competition is an important step that aligns with the vision of Dubai Dates to reinforce the palm tree’s position within society.

He explained that, throughout the history of the UAE, the palm tree has never been merely a fruit-bearing tree. Rather, it has been closely linked to people’s lives, homes, and daily memories, while representing the strong relationship between people and their land.

He added that the competition aims to encourage community members to plant and care for palm trees inside their homes, while reviving their role as an element that brings generations together and passes knowledge and experience from parents and grandparents to children.

Strengthening the Bond Between People and the Land

Through this competition, Dubai Dates carries a message centered on strengthening the bond between people and their land through one of the most important symbols of Emirati identity. The event does not focus only on the quality of dates or honoring winners, but also seeks to make the palm tree a meeting point for families and the wider community.

When the palm tree is present in homes, caring for it becomes a daily practice that preserves an important part of agricultural heritage. It also gives younger generations the chance to understand the value of the palm tree and its role in the lives of Emiratis.

Preparations for a Wider Community Edition

Work teams at the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center are continuing their preparations to organize a distinctive edition of Dubai Dates, one that focuses on developing the community experience of the event and strengthening its role as an open gathering for families and society.

The upcoming edition seeks to attract palm tree enthusiasts, as well as families who see the palm as a symbol of heritage, sustainability, and belonging. In doing so, Dubai Dates becomes a space where fathers, mothers, children, and grandparents gather around a deeply rooted national value.
